Why do we continue to work in this sh-- hole if we hate it?

A rock that is stationary tends to stay and I did that for too long. The reality is if you are good you are good and other companies will want you. It is those managers who do nothing but yell at others or ppt and excel that can't find jobs.

If you are good get out befor the $hit really hits the fan, you know who you are and how dire Intel's situation is... LOL

Two things.

"Better the devil you know, than the devil you don't"

My buddies. The ones that went through hell projects with me over the years, longer than any Iraq campaign.

Survived the first L4, and then handed a second with ISP a few weeks later. Got a tidy sum and have a better job. I too feel sorry for the friends, when it sinks it will be ugly out there. I am lucky to have better pastures.

#GOLDPOST 'Easy to stay as Intel is the biggest, pays well but is rotting'

@3asa!! Best I've seen here. So much said in so few words. Quite poetic actually.

@J1IfIpm-3hjf Feel fortunate you are out of there. Similar for me, wouldn't have left, but happy I did. There is much misery and more will get walked there, much more as x86 continues to shrinks and all the new initiatives fail.

Easy to stay as Intel is the biggest, pays well but is rotting

I never hated it. Had my dream job although it was going to end due to pressure about having to do other jobs. I just happened to be moved under the wrong manager at the wrong time who gave me an above average pay raise but for some reason a SL4 despite having one of my best years at Intel.

@1npi: because truly living a full and satisfying life is loving what you do, who you do it with, and who you're doing it for. The stress associated with that place is slowly and maybe even quickly killing us. I hate feeling useless, unappreciated, and unfulfilled...that's all over for me and i've never felt so wanted and appreciated as i do at my new company/job. And I'm learning again...something that i was put down for attempting in my 20 years at Intel. Freedom is worth so much more than your material list below.

why you ask?

Good pay + bonuses + sabbatical + free coffee + easy jobs + lots of free time + less than 8 hr workday + all other perks.

Better question is, why not?

Managers sit in meetings all day pontificating and whipping the RCGs. A big purge of useless managers is required

Very happy I got let go as my manager was an idiot but a favorite and would just create useless extra work. So happy I am off the titanic

I'm just waiting for a VSP/ISP. Good thing is that I can get it probably regardless of what I do. So why not be lazy. Paychecks keep coming.

It's always time for a coffee break @1tzx. I took the money and ran (ERP'ed as per my long term plan).

I took the VSP and I was indeed scared as intel is all I ever knew. One month after leaving I had another job, one much better, and I just didnr know my worth. I don't care how old (think "the intern" with De Niro) or how big or small, you ARE better than how they treat us and you WILL find another job, just be confident abd own it.

You are best off searching for a position somewhere else, something you can enjoy. People you may think as friends at Intel aren't really friends. They'll backstab you as well. No problem, if it's them against you. Management will never stand up for you or have your back so never trust these dishonest managers. Most are true slime bags and will have no problem giving you an SL4 after a full year of telling you what a great job you had been doing.

Not all fall into the bucket you describe @jye. I spoke to several that wanted to leave, but were afraid to leave (interviewing, trying something new, etc.). All they knew was Intel as that's the only place they have worked. Also, a lot of people tend to cling to familiarity.

Intel employees are not scared or lazy... the issues within Intel are well-known. Some employees are too loyal or too new to understand Intel does not care about anyone... They think Intel will somehow turn itself around and things will get better.

You're just a commodity at Intel. Years and/or months of successful training and performance means nothing when you fit the bean counters criteria for expulsion.

I loved my work was well paid though the boss was a total a$$. The stories I have are worthy of a book about the failed opportunities and stupidity.

Got my first L4 in 20 years and was forced to leave. Got a tidy sum and many sweet offers, in some ways thankful BK was so stupid and gave me this opportunity. Feel sorry for the friends hanging as when it sinks it will be ugly out there. I am lucky to have been forced to leave
