Same ethnicity and time in title does justify promo with SVP. VP is based on need... unless SVP ignores company need.

@3chn: Many of the sr dirs in MST have been in that position for the past 10 years. It is their time to be VP now by the qualification of belonging to the majority ethnic group. Same with CE. Same with adjacent businesses. Same with almost 90% of Q.

@1ypx: You think the CE VP will thin his layer of senior directors and directors? Very soon he will become SVP after laying off or offshoring. The ESG folks will lose more people in Sr staff and below (as it is there are only a few left) and at least one more sr dir is going to be a VP. MST same story - They will let go another round of staff and senior staff and "in exchange" will create room for one more VP by saying that there were 3 earlier and now there are only 2, so there is room for one more. All adjacent business will get one or 2 more VP's and couple more SVP's.

........... q is suffering from over employment... managers deliberately hire more people to get themselves promoted to the next level...... so that they can show they have so many people reporting to them......this is typical mentality of managers in Q...... layoffs are the result.......

The average Net Worth of Nvidia engrs is >$5M and 1/3 have excess of $10M worth of RSUs. Silicon Valley is the hot bed to gamble when you’re young to maximize RSUs. Forget going to those remote sites, just su-k it up for 5 years and hope you can join a high flier so you’ll be set for life. If you don’t hit it big then at least you have a good living, retire young and then move to ID or CO. We will never get away from the modem anchor so might as well jump ship before you get the boot and get replaced by engrs in India.

It’ll be 5% every year until all jobs are moved to India except for the knuckleheads in Bldg-N. I meet so many ex-QC engineers who are so much happier so I hope to join the ranks by moving to Santa Clara to join a startup.
