I was quite surprised by the manager's reaction after I gave notice. I thought that this company no longer cares about people leaving, but it seems that is not the case at all. They seem to prefer to keep people until the last day and then get rid of them. What was the reaction of your manager when you quit?

Haven't seen my boss in months. Rumour has it that she was last seen in Austin with her head tucked firmly up her manager's backside. Bottom line is your boss only cares about him or herself - notyou. You will be forgotten by next week's staff meeting.
The company always cares about high performers leaving. Your manager didn't make a fuss. You do the math.
My manager just shrugged and said ok. Call was a mere five minutes. 4.5 minutes of that were orchestrated pleasantries.
The only reason he cares is about the retention bonus he won’t have or the fact he now needs to think about redistribution of your tasks. Surprise is all self centred i am sure.
Remember he’d be the same person that wouldn’t have an issue to lay you off with little to no notice.
It’s just business.
You received overtures to stay?
They have bonuses tied to retention before the official acquisition so that’s why they probably cared.
Nobody cares. Bye.
Mine was surprised that the overtures to stay didn’t work. There are better jobs and bosses. With the hiring and internal transfer freeze, there was only one good option. Leave.
This. So true.
