Ha! Good luck BMC! He was horrible to work for, woke up on sundays with bright ideas, no market data to prove his idea was best for TD, he's a slave driver and loves brown nosers. Most of his campaigns were confusing, never turned into money makers and was basically the same message, he just had us move the words around to sound "different". lol HEY M.E. TAKE CT WITH YA
First CMO was RF. Shown the door when MK got it.
Data wasteland
Stop buying analytics
Actually, ME was NOT the first CMO. But the last one was gone a long time ago. He was good, but he got sacrificed for something that the rest of the LT did.
@3ahz+1i0R3asD - I have no problem hiring a brand agency if the strategy is EFFECTIVE to the company & products being marketed. For our case, it made no difference. We spent thousands of dollars and had no impacts to the actual MOTIVATIONs and REASONs why our customers are buying our products. Spending a lot of $$$ to hire an amazing plastic surgeon for a face lift will not give you an extra minute to live if you are having a heart problem. We just wasted a whole boatload of money. Just look at out stock price.
Complaining about Teradata hiring a brand agency shows how backwards you are. Why do you think your brand is in the toilet? From years of not investing in it and you finally get a CMO who tries to improve it and you complain? Of course a good agency is not cheap. When you are really sick you go find the best doctor you can afford.
The design agency M.e chose made millions, not thousands.
I am laughing out loud at @1qqb+1i0R3asD's comment "he was the first and only real CMO Teradata ever had." Well, he WAS the first and only CMO TD ever had till recently because TD didn't have CMO role before M.E. It is true that TD didn't have a good brand recognition, but his strategy of trying to sell TD through social media was just laughable. How much impact did it have on the actual sales? ZERO. NONE. Yet he walked away with millions in his hands despite the fact that he had no other marketing strategy other than social media blitz which completely made no difference. The only thing that happed was that the design agency he was chummy with made thousands of dollars on us. It's the American Dream, folks!
Congrats to M.e. BMC is lucky to have him. He was a great leader and a miracle worker for doing marketing for a company with nothing to market...no new tech and no products. He is a true leader and anyone that worked for him that wasn't an id--t loved him. Marketing is miserable now with JW, wish we still had him.
Vantage was just the name of one of his cars in his garage. The most confusing marketing campaign ever - customers were / are so confused. Was even touted by ELT as the best selling Teradata product (non-product) ever in Vancouver - everyone was scratching their head.
Congrats to M.E.!!
Good for BMC - he was the first and only real CMO Teradata ever had. Just like SB going to run FF, the few good ELT members are not valued at TDC if they have a backbone and speak out against flawed decisions. He had an impossible job, trying to improve Teradata's brand image. You'd have to be a miracle worker to pull that off. Congrats to M.E. Now Teradata has to live with JW.
