I think the exact number was 300 corporate people laid off the first week of January.
Company is doing very well, revenue is growing $16B now. The issue is margin. They haven't been able to reach their target rate. Since Shareholders had high expectations with a stock near $1000, it's obvious that there is deception and correction needs to happen. Until rates are fixed United Rentals will be in troubles...
Husband just got let go after 27 years of dedication to the company. This company definitely does not value loyalty
Maybe they should stop paying for all the Managers golf club memberships.
@319 From what I'm hearing, profits are down. Maybe if United hadn't gone on a company buying spree the last few years...
I know that 500 in upper management were laid off earlier this week, they're closing a branch in our district and all those employees are being laid off. I found out today that they're eliminating Small Tools and the guy we work with, who's been with the company for 25 years was just laid off. We all had to give our manager justifications for our jobs so she can try and fight for us. She is freaking out because we are a small branch but with a high volume of rentals and she's afraid some of us are going to be let go. I personally feel like Peter Gibbons after the hypotherapist about it all. But my heart hurts for all these people who gave so much to the company.
I guess that's why they canceled the softball tournament last year.
@30j Any reasons given besides Corpo drivel?
I got laid off Monday with 0 warning after 5 years. My team is already extremely over worked and understaffed so I don’t get it. Oh well
@OP layoffs have started and no one seems protected.
