Thread regarding General Electric Co. layoffs

Empires will fall

Gobble this market has already turned worse for the power sector. It has for a while now look at the demand over the past 6 years. Yes there will be layoffs for the power sector. Especially for the split to posture up for the sale of power. The onions and company will not say so because they want to keep everyone motivated to keep working until the time comes for cuts. The company is waiting until the contract is up to avoid any Leagal Repercussions from the unions. If the company splits and sells power the union is gone. What do you think? Do you think or hear layoffs are coming? The shop in Schenectady everyone is talking about the split and what they think will happen. We Do not expect a buy out either from the company this time. The company is broke power does not make any profits big enough to keep stock holders happy. Always remember that all empires fail! The empire of the 301 will be no more after this.

@2zys+1dOVGgDP learn Schenectady's history. People were d-mb enough to think like that in the early-mid 80's back when the economy was terrible. Go find an old-timer to educate you on what happened in the mid-late 80's when the economy was improving. I'll give you a hint, it was a bloodbath that Schenectady still hasn't recovered from.

GE is a great company power isn’t going anywhere. Power will grow and Schenectady jobs are safe

Power is an attractive buy to our competition. It makes more sense for us to be brought than to take the risk that we'll implode and become no more. Apple came back from the brink and there were several times when it could have easily been brought for pennies on the dollar. Now look at it. I don't think our competition will run the risk of Power coming back with a vengeance years later. So expect to fall under new ownership within the next 5-10 years. Schenectady will be a wildcard in all of this. The site is toxic and nobody wants to deal with it. I doubt GE will be able to sell off the risk and responsibilities associated with the land that the Schenectady plant sits on. I foresee Power being sold, the Schenectady location not being part of the sell, and the plant being shut down with ownership of the property still being in the hands of GE. It won't make a difference what your rate is or how many years you have in.
