Thread regarding Teradata Corp. layoffs

Why not leave?

I feel bad for those that are on here that got laid off from Teradata. Hopefully they can find another job.

It seems that there are many followers here that are still at Teradata and contribute to this board. Question for those people is, why don’t you just leave?

I was at Teradata for a long time. I was also based in San Diego, a tough place to leave. But sometimes one has to make the tough decision and make a change. I think if you do change, you will be happier. Leave the nonsense behind…

Anyone considering joining Teradata would do well to look at the facts in the financial statements. Decline in revenue in an industry which is experiencing massive growth.

Do not join a dead company where no-one likes the ELT, the product is falling off the Gartner leaders list and customers are leaving. Your mental health will suffer immensely. Don't be fooled by the snake oil merchants who tell you Teradata is a great place to work.

Unless you're unemployed and absolutely need a job now, or you know a dirty secret from an ELT member, you're better off not coming to TD. You will regret it. I joined the company just to be kicked out after 8 months.

Look some where else. TD is not long in this Industry. I was a hiring manager for years. You will find better pay, benefits and job security elsewhere Good luck.

Hi,
when were the last layoffs announced? last week? I am currently negotiating an offer from TD and got an email that there are some 'internal or changes' - can somebody tell me what it is about?

I've been applying elsewhere but like someone else said the sight of Teradata on my resume doesn't give a potential employer a warm fuzzy feeling.

We are a company in a rapid decline and we should all be looking to leave before it's too late. Practising interview skills is better than any course you can do.

I highly recommend starting to apply to other jobs now + before ELT lays you off.

The job market has changed a lot even in the last couple of years. Getting practice at interviewing while you're still getting a paycheck at Teradata will help out immensely.

What's the worst that can happen from interviewing? You get a better job with more pay and no constant threat of being laid off?

30-minute call? You’ll be lucky if it’s 10 minutes. Once you make the list, you’re dead person walking. You’re not worth 30 minutes.

Still here but want to leave.

The culture is terrible compared to years ago

We have no trust in the ELT to save the company

Problem is we know the job market is very hard at the moment and having Teradata skills on your resume often acts as a negative. So we wait for that 30 min call with HR which we know will come one day. In the meantime, skill up and diversify is what many of us are doing. The free learning on linkedin would be one of the most hit websites from the internal addresses.
