Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

The Dell Prison Experiment

Working at Dell is like participating in the Stanford Prison Experiment. The management, SVP’s, Senior Directors, and VP’s take their guard roles way to seriously and make their ICs and front line management jump through hoops for no reason. Don’t work here.

Dell Tech is in a bad place because all the EMC people pushed out all the legacy Dell people that made it a great company to work for. Now these EMC clowns witht their pushy used car salesmen tactics have ruined Dell with their channel 1st approach, letting all the partners do the heavy lifting while they galavant at TopGolf and other "marketing" boondoggles eating steak and drinking whisk-y at shooting ranges. Poor people left behind are working double to make 40-50% of quotas.

This is absolutely true. My organization is top heavy with execs trying to justify their position.
How do they do this? They create additional project work -‘transformation projects :( - which just means more and work for team members already buckling under the weight of doing more (and more) with less (and less).

If they could put a damn 12 month moratorium in place that allowed us to focus on business issues (not self contained, insular, non critical organizational ones) we’d be in a much better place and people would feel a sense of achieving something and not just spending hours on endless ppts that get read once and other work that will be quickly forgotten in a few short ‘cycles’.
It is ridiculous. It’s like watching children in the playground. Futile and pointless. Let the people get on with their jobs.
There’s very little apparent trust

When people say EMC Vs Dell, it is only in the context of Ethics and back stabbing and politics.
Most of Current EMC are senior citizens ( 67 yrs and counting) who want to stretch their tenure by back stabbing and lying about coworkers who are a competition to them.
These EMC seniors dont want to upgrade themselves with new tech.
So they just collaborate with other EMC to remove the competition using these Layoff train.

cybersecurity was a mess after the emc acquisition.

dell is the only company where they walk out 2 cybersecurity guys and 4 months later 1 is hired back as a contractor and the other is the head security guys chief engineer.

@OP+1pIdi7YB - You can always leave and maybe save a job for someone that is more grateful.

EMC was pretty good. It sure had its issues but nothing like the sweat shop which is Dell. Directors and VPs have no problem lying to your face, even when found out they will lie and lie....because Michael said so. Dictatorship and an embarrassing one at that

Reading this post "EMC Corp was worse .." I never lost my job or was treated the same at EMC for over 20 years. Oh, and then this jerk "Not sure what group you're in but that's not the case for me. If you aren't happy, leave. Life's to short to stress yourself out when you can control the outcome." This post is a great example of what's wrong at dell.

@zxy+1pIdi7YB I have actually heard this comment said by two senior people in Emea more than once in the last few months.
Pretty cr-p way to lead people IMO.
But if people leave Dell doesnt have to pay them out so maybe thats the plan.
What a horrible way to run a company.
The people at the top are the issue.
