Honestly? Recessions, Global Pandemic. Death of Retail.
And here we are.
Still standing.
Old and tired, but still standing.
I congratulate all of you who are holding the fort.
Godspeed!

Who is we? Unless you are Lampert, you can’t call Sears “we”.
Sears is not in business, It's in coma. The Loss of 250,000 employees closing 4000 stores in 10 years, going from 43 billion in sales to 81+ million in debt, a stock price of $166 to the delisted NYSE OTC stock price of .016 of a cent.
Stand tall if your visionless, bland as the clothes at Sears, and have no drive or imagination.
Three cheers for the uninspired and mediocre corporate managers,
Here lies Sears ki---d by the corporate parasite Transformco. Good work Fast Eddie!
Yes their strong loss prevention department was wizard at closing up those "100% cash back" Shop Your Way promos.
A strong loss prevention department bought the company several extra years, but at the end of the day the associates didn't want to work very hard and that's how the company got to its current state.

TRUTH! No lies detected. Downvote all y'all want, because the truth hurts. When Henry Ford invented the Model T truck, while most people were thrilled, there must have been a few who wanted horse buggy travel to continue. Guess what? Life moved on, things progressed. When computers came out, a few people must have been worried that people making typewriters would lose their jobs. Guess what? Life moved on, things progressed. When DVD players came out, a few people might have been worried about jobs for people making VCRs. Guess what? Life moved on, things progressed. Etc., etc., etc.. The fact of the matter is (almost) nobody is interested in shopping at a Kmart or Sears now.
*I was at a local mall because my wife wanted to see a movie, and they have a theater. Ironically, this mall had a Kmart until about 8 Years ago. But anyway, walking through the (almost 90% closed) mall, they had signs up at the kiosks, stating things like "Don't shop at Amazon......support your local businesses). Ya, um, nope. I'm good thanks. I'm not shopping at your broken down mall, when I can have whatever I want with free shipping delivered to my front door. Guess what? That's progress, and life moves on. Heck, I don't even need to go to movie theaters as I can Stream whatever picture I want, on my big screen. But wife is old school, she wanted to see it there, as the expression goes "Happy wife, happy life". But other than that, you wouldn't catch me Dead in a "mall" (except MAYBE to eat food, Or Drink Beer). This isn't 1992.
** Go ahead, downvote this all you want. That just goes to show me how much the truth is hurting your feelings. Cry if you want, don't cry if you don't want, it won't make a difference. The future of shopping is online. Sears/Kmart, are going, going, (soon to be) gone. Nothing will change that fact. Let it go.
there are hundreds of franchise owners who may be the problem for Eddie, like litigation if they fold. They are dying off and maybe he is hoping few will be left to litigate against him. I think the sales of the little stores to the unknown is a little time bo-b. Eddie probably knew the little people would lose their life savings purchasing them. I think this is why Eddie has taken so many back from people he sold them to. Litigation or threat of litigation
@1kzb+1fUNrSqY I Know! You summed it up well. Hitched himself to some useless brands in such cosmopolitan locales, such as WESTWOOD NJ & BRIDGEHAMPTON NY. Looks like someone just threw darts at a map. Bizarre really. At least, the last Blockbuster video has some nostalgic angle to it. Who in the actual fk cares about shopping at a Kmart in 2022, when you can literally have anything you want shipped to your front door in 2 Days?
He is an eccentric “billionaire” (maybe millionaire now?). For some reason he has hitched his wagon to these tired brands. It almost seems like he is so fragile and arrogant that he refuses to admit defeat and instead keeps it limping along. What person in their right mind would keep running a handful of random stores all over the place. He wasn’t even smart enough to try to remain in a specific region as a regional chain. Instead he has far flung stores that must me a cost a small fortune to keep running. His money to burn I guess?
Yes, I'd like to thank all 6 of you for holding the fort.
Who the fk is "we"? Unless you are Ed Lampert, you don't own this private company. Only he can call Sears "we".
The real question is, does anyone care?
Still standing? More like still crawling.
