Thread regarding Rockwell Automation Inc. layoffs

Layoffs in June?

Any rumours for layoffs in June?

I was called back from
A temp layoff. Now I hear that new round of layoffs is about to take place.

@5f1 Not sure, they are all being very quite about it, but in the Kitchener plant, I was told we are not getting our Earnout Allocation Amount (EIP) as clearpath/Rockwell didn’t make a fiscal goals for 2024/2025.
If we aren’t getting our (EIP earnout) then I would be surprised with any other bonuses.
Unless employees did get their (EIP) and I was told otherwise.
I would also like to know.

@5fh I thought I heard the bonus eps and the street guidance did not match. In other words, you needed to be top of street guidance to get to lowest bonus level. If true, dou--e move by leadership. Can anyone confirm??

I'd like to know, too. Any manager here? Whats the outlook for promotion? When are Q3 results released?

@5f1 They have been pretty silent on bonus or merit increases, maybe once Q4 starts but it would be a real kick in the nuts if they didnt do it again this year with the stock where it is and all their "cost cutting and inner investments".. I am sure the exec team already met their bonus level so maybe they will throw us peons some scraps.

It seems the company is too top heavy…too bloated. I am not sure how the company can remain competitive in EMEA, Asia etc. countries.

Too many “soft skill” delegators, managers, and nearly not enough doers, innovators, and subject matter/ product/application/industry experts.

Many managers with limited leadership qualities who had maxed out a long time ago and can simply be replaced by an AI App.

The quality of engineering staff and tech support folks has visibly declined in the past few years! No focus on core products. Why??? Hopefully AI will be able to close the skills/knowledge gap.

Outsourcing the engineering talent to some 3rd world country will further decline the market share of the company!

I am fortunate to be able to retire in September.

Well, RA is no different than any other publicly traded company. The layoffs are common place everywhere!

RA has too many high cost mid level ppl managers/team leads, email forwarders, responsibility deflectors and professional meeting attenders, and not enough of doers, innovators and problem solvers.

@2xx I can tell by your post you have been at RA too long, been average or are a first line manager, stuck because of your average performance. And your manager is too lazy to move you aside so now you are what HR calls a blocker. Good luck.

It is fairly quiet here in MQN.
Let us see how BABA plan pans out. I suspect that non US plants will likely be affected more by the layoffs.

@2xs your point on VPs is valid. Self promotion plus powerpoint plus boot licking plus DEI helped a lot of nonvalue-add executives to rise through the ranks. That fact is obvious! High performance technical engineers cannot be promoted in RA.

@2xs I can tell by your post you are a millennial who probably expects $100K to start. However, your point about minting VP jobs is valid. That's a lot of salary they're paying. Good luck taking your sw and fw prowess elsewhere lol

We haven't replaced technical engineers in 4 roles in my group for a year yet the company seems to be minting BS VP jobs for sales wonks all over the place. To Forster is the latest. Really? Does the company value technical prowess or self promotion and powerpoint. I'm leaving soon. As a high achievement engineer for the last 3 years, I am being courted by a lot of companies. I'll take my SW and FW prowess somewhere else. What a waste of 12 years falling for Blake's BS

RA may be expanding workforce overseas (India and maybe KTW). I can see a minimal or no overall workforce expansion in NA. The roles in MQN and Cambridge are not backfilled. Sure there are a few ghost job ads but no actual headcount increase

Recently RA hired lots of new young people. So are we growing again or they're hired for replacing the old guy?

Likely no layoffs. No replacement for peaile who left, retired, or are in process of leaving. Good old natural attrition is taking place in Cambridge

RA stocks are at all time high!
RA is already fixed and good! The CEO and leadership met and exceeded the shareholders expectations.

Do you think the next CEO can fix Rockwell? Will it be someone inside or outside? Who is in the running. I also heard Honeywell is interested in acquiring RA next time stock hits 230. I heard it on the elevator at HQ when a couple of big wigs didn't noticed me. I think Blake and Becky, but not sure.

The engineering, R&D, IT, Customer Care, remote support, project management, etc can easily be outsourced to India! Some of the client facing roles are fairly safe!

@1sk I regret to inform you that you are wrong. What you're saying vs. what is happening are two different things. Join the team and you'll be surprised by how far management is willing to go to save a dollar, very shortsighted thinking.

@1sc are you talking about office jobs or factory floor? Highly doubt they fill those office jobs overseas. R&D engineering? sure. Everything else, quality, product support, comm eng, marketing etc HAS to be done stateside. They don't even speak English.

there are many folks already due for retirement this year. The headcount will be decreased, technically, no layoffs.

The roles backfilled overseas.

The layoffs in Mexico and Canada plants are imminent. Despite many ghost job ads the Hiring freeze is in effect.
We expect major restructuring , no layoffs, September in Cambridge office.

Rockwell is a great company. Blake and the other leaders don’t make or break the company. They make all the money but the smart folks who do the day to day really drive the value.

@g2 do you think Blake and Becky purposely mislead us so they can profit from our ignorance and blind trust. I met them both once, at a ceremony, and they seemed so nice and smiled and asked me my name. They really seemed to care. Then my friend was riffed the next week. But they still seem nice. And now the tomato garden in the clock tower is activated again. So much good work by the leadership in creating a culture that thrives!

No one's happy with their salary except the chosen ones. They need to free up some cash I guess.

Anything is possible with Rockwell right now. So it wouldn’t surprised me with more layoffs.
The foundation of trust between employer and employee isn’t there as Rockwell will say there won’t be any layoffs but they do it anyways.
Just be prepared for the worse and hope for the best. Best of luck.
