It all started when Steve Jobs “changed” the world from WinTel to a dystopian iPhone world, when everyone was fine with PC and blackberry phone back in 2007. It stoled Intel’s business to this very day. The world is not better but now far worse, and so cuts could still be coming.

Which will reduce headcount faster?

Attrition or layoffs?

People are leaving FAST!
The stock is in the toilet and there are WAY better jobs on offer out there.

TRUE very true - Any device driver experience of 5 years - get grade 9 /10/11 and give them 450K and load of RSU and keep existing employee bagging ....
Some director and VP hiring sh*** from AMD, NVIDIA and asking intel FLM,SLM, Sr. Eng and PE to leave. Whoever question LP, MR, ST they are thrown out.
All PIPs from these company picked by Intel ..
Intel - pay your employee nicely don't think SLM, FLM, PE and grade 8/7 are sh** .. sh-t is middle layer who are in intel from 20 years and just eating big LION

No cuts. Only hire hire hire garbage rejected by Apple, Nvidia, AMD and other companies. Plus pay top notch competitive pay to existing kings and queens (grade 9/10/11 employees) Pat will take intel to bankrupcy by 2028. Intel right now is at initial Blackberry denial phase where executives were laughing at 1st version of iPhone and saying people want real keyboard. Raja has been taking long time to cook sh---y gfx. Q1 22 DG launch will be DOA. Way behind AMD and Nvidia.

Doubt the cuts are coming. It is competetive out there. A tonne of younger employees are leaving Intel. And when I say younger I am saying grade 6-8 folks of the ages between 28-40ish are leaving en masse. They are tired of the politics and the glut of IC's ahead of them that have been at the same job for 20 years... doing things the same ol' way. Having major cuts will just make more employees want to leave.

People use to leave for Microsoft or Apple or Amazon. Now they leaving for companies such as Cisco, HP, TSMC etc. and what you use to consider a lower tier.

All the DG2/GPU should be canned but there safe as intel rewards failure.

I've given up trusting this board for accurate layoff information. Everybody here seems to be a Negative Nancy, seeing layoffs under every rock. Like a broken clock they may eventually be correct, but it won't be through any fault of their own.

Meanwhile in TMG people are being overworked and underpaid, and likely the first place where headcount may go down... Intel always making the wrong moves. Sigh...

I doubt this rumor is true.

Pat just sh1t the bed with investors which gives him freedom to spend like a drunken sailor for the next few years.

Some are saying no, some are saying yes.

Does anyone have reliable info on whether cuts are coming, in Oct or beyond? At least, so we can be mentally ready in case we lose our jobs and source of income? Thank you from a humble Gr 6

Unlikely any layoffs. PG's been telling everybody Intel is ready to spring back up so he has to keep appearances, at least for a while longer. There will be layoffs, but they'll only happen when investors send a signal it's time to trim costs, and that hasn't happened yet.

Lol same, in SC also. Being tenured with including rolling sabbaticals, with all the pto, I’m legit off work maybe 4-5 months this year. At most punching a half day when I do work. Either no one notices or no one cares cause they’re doing the same. Been like this for years now.

Wouldn't be surprised, the wlb in santa clara is unsustainable.
So many people probably work 2 hours a day tbh. myself I only work 3 days a week and leave for 1/3 of each day to go home and come back later lol.

No one cares about being here.
