Thread regarding 3M layoffs

When will layoffs start again?

I'm among those who want to volunteer.

They don't hire back the experienced people they shouldn't have laid off in the first place. That's the problem.

Ridiculous. All they know is to cut. Leadership in this company has no ACTUAL leaders in it. Just a bunch of overpaid fools wasting oxygen. There might be 2 or 3 decent leaders in the upper ranks at most. That we have to hire back is directly related to both cutting too much and people leaving because it has become a cr-ppy place to work with very few opportunities. Cheerlead all you want, but people can clearly see the reality with their own eyes.

As I have said before, the company is hiring. Be happy for your colleagues/former colleagues who are now in a company that is not looking at laying off its employees in cost cutting moves. If anything, 3M is showing signs of growth so brighter days are ahead.

For the individual(s) waiting for a package, you should just leave if you are unhappy at 3M. Life is too short, and nobody is stopping you from pursuing your best life! No package is coming any time soon!!

They might be hiring but doesn’t mean anything I seen them hiring and layoff at the same time. We just a number waiting to be called so they can make the numbers look good. Layoff will be happening soon.

reinventing the wheel is not rocket surgery people! You people need to get with it!

"You people"? Sheesh. Bright people straight out of school need training and guidance. They did not learn the ins and outs of the products or machinery in school. But go ahead -- dump the experienced "dead weight" and reinvent everything again. Solve problems that were solved before but forgotten.

You need a critical mass of employees to function, another level to grow. If 3M is hiring, it's likely to keep the company functioning rather than growing since good people keep leaving

There is just no satisfying you people. I think we can all agree that the company is hiring. Do you really think there would be hiring going on if the company is doing poorly? I have seen multiple new hires in my area. These are some sharp new employees. Better than some of the dead weights that used to be here.

This rendition of 3M is soulless.

Hiring? Do you think it's cheaper people to replace the experienced ones they keep laying off?

@2whs+1wbqyNT5 is not giving an honest portrayal of current conditions for the overwhelming majority of employees globally. 3M may be hiring, but largely due to good people who’ve fled toxic working conditions. New hires are destined to fail or suffer health related issues as a result of employment. Please speak up if you’re a new hire in the past 24 to 36 months and agree or disagree.

LOL The company is hiring. If there are layoffs, it would be for strategic reasons (and not because of cost cutting). Regardless, don't let the people on this board fool you. 3M is doing well now and hiring. This is NOT the 3M of 3-5 years ago.

Have the layoffs really ever stopped? Just because the numbers aren’t large enough to be required to be announced publicly doesn’t mean they aren’t still happening.

Bill got the stock over 130 but it has now stalled. He will need to do something big (layoffs) in order to impress Wall Street, just like the guy at SOLV did in December.

Why do you think Sir Peter is still around? If there's one thing he's proven is that he will layoff scores of employees and then do another Kearney video.

I will be 54 next year and I hope to get the lottery package. Would be a good incentive to leave this place after 25 years of service

We don't look for volunteers anymore, and you can't even "volunteer" by doing poorly at your job because performance has no bearing on who gets laid off.

It's just random lightning strikes nowadays, because we don't have leadership who can string two thoughts together.
