Thread regarding VMware layoffs

No bonus?

Lot of people on this website are saying that there will be no merit increases or bonuses. But, if the total compensation includes annual bonus, can they stop it?

"Within VMware you had people reaching 300-500% of their quotas,"

If people were reaching 300-500% of quota, their quotas were incorrect. Shows poor management - which is why we ended up being acquired. Sadly those same poor managers are mostly still here.

". If you expect Hock to hire r&d for VMware you are delusional."
If you notice, there are senior engineers coming back. If your talent is truly needed, hiring is allowed. Very small amount

So blame your leaders

I’d like to, but it is like blaming a baby for po----g in their diaper.

All the VMware “leaders” should have been fired. Yep, all. Not a competent one in the lot that I’ve seen in my long tenure.

One can dream. Hock, wake up and get to work already!

Hock has approved and is leaving it up to management. His words. So blame your leaders when you don't get one.

Hock confirmed today that there will be salary increases and bonuses.

Again, this is some random person on this site making up cr-p. Why put in the effort to spread FUD and pi-s off employees and shareholders?

100% spot on. Hock loves laying off employees, and raising prices on customers. It's the whole business model. His euphemism for it is "monetizing technology".

Bs VMware is sinking ship not a growing business. We both know in 5 years 80% of current VMware employees will be gone, most laid off. Once BC debt is payed, to grow they have to buy another sinking ship like Intel and continue to layoff from other divisions. If you expect Hock to hire r&d for VMware you are delusional.

@2qml+1t2zj942 We are far from the doom line. BC needs VMware on the software side to generate more consistent revenues. Hock has mentioned that the margin for hardware is very slim. Software is built once and keeps selling itself, while hardware needs to be built every time to sell. In a way, VMware is saving Broadcom; otherwise, BC is stuck with a $600 price tag.

“ Regarding VMware employees, you got amazing rsu packages, so it is ok not to get the bonus, in the end what revenue contributions do you folks have?”

Erm bearing in mind that many BROADCOM employees were absorbed into the company last November they’ll have contributed to over 12 months of revenue so as long as targets are met it’s not unreasonable at all to be expecting bonuses.

As a Broadcom employee, I think it would be unfair for us not to get the bonus. Regarding VMware employees, you got amazing rsu packages, so it is ok not to get the bonus, in the end what revenue contributions do you folks have?

A lot of people are not saying it. Very few, and they have been immediately disputed. Either you're the one who is spreading FUD and trying a new technique here, or you are gullible to fake information spread on public websites.

Don't believe everything you read here. Broadcom is a publicly traded company and its employee retention is based on RSU and bonuses. Stock is going up. There is absolutely no reason to not give bonuses and risk the brain drain.

You have got to be kidding.

OTE is, shockingly, On Target Earnings. You only get the TC if all targets are hit.

The bonus is discretionary and not guaranteed. At least that's what is stated in the BC welcome offer letter.

You weren't told that you had to RTO, or that you weren't getting a refresh of RSUs this year, or a merit increase, or that promotions will be slim to none. Do you really think they are going to tell you that you aren't getting a bonus?

You have a chance for percentage of up to a certain amount as a bonus, it not guaranteed . That’s the way bonus’s work.

You can work an extra mile, just sufficient or extra miles short. Just like gasoline pumps to the car. More gas more mileages. Less gas less mileages. Adjust the mileages accordingly.

And obviously if sales targets aren’t met, it’s an easy reason to provide why bonuses are lower/non existent.

A bonus is a bonus and not automatically paid out. There’s a reason why it is being called a bonus and not base salary.

Officially no, practically yes, at least partially.

For any commission based roles, they can always adjust the quotas as they wish. Within VMware you had people reaching 300-500% of their quotas, Hock will save loads of money by even making it hard to reach 100%.
