Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

Last post…2021 was my last year @ Oracle

2021 was my last year at Oracle. All I can say. I had a nice laugh with a current employee about how much of a joke our old manager is. These are my top 10 observations. Since I’m no longer an employee, I will come back on occasion for laughs. Good Luck to all.

  1. Oracle is no longer a company but an acquirer of other companies.
  2. It’s hard for long time employees to admit how bad it is (I was one but admitted it).
  3. There are 288 better places to work in America.
  4. The opinions of oracle are universal; from Indiana to India.
  5. The people that leave and come back don’t change and did so for a pay raise.
  6. Racism, sexism, discrimination run rampant and HR doesn’t care one bit.
  7. Oracle doesn’t care about employee abuse, mental health, addiction or health and wellness (see Peyton death).
  8. HR could be replaced by bots who also do nothing and have absolutely no purpose at the company (common in HR I know).
  9. Oracle doesn’t want out of the box thinkers. It wants robots or slaves.
  10. The management in Oracle are among the worst professionally and personally in the world. Your manager will not help your career and most of the managers wouldn’t come close to their counterpart at other tech companies. The company as a whole would do itself a huge favor to let go 40% of the current mgmt team. They are not only useless but it save a ton of money. Get rid of Botox Betty and bowl cut Bob. Oracle…be like Nike and Just Do It!

100%. The manager I had before my last one at Oracle was a complete id--t or just an ahole. I had a decade at oracle and proficient at everything in my dept. we hired a guy. He was hired as an IC4, I was an IC3. I was mentoring him and answering things he asked until I realized this guy was a level above me. I told my dope manager. He legit said you shouldn’t worry about that….it means nothing. Yes, someone making more than me and asking me how to do their job means nothing. The manager lived in the Midwest where I take it you can get a nice house for under 150k. West and east coast that gets you a 1BR condo or small rancher in a dumpy town.

The mgmt of oracle have been what has destroyed oracle. A lot of them never deserved to be there. Bottom of the barrel.

Pay transparency would solve a lot of problems, like those discrepancies you describe.

But companies have convinced applicants and employees that it in everybody’s best interest to keep compensation private. They won’t post salaries with job descriptions.

Wrong. It only helps companies.

The public sector has zero pay transparency. You can get an annual report from your city or town that lists everyone’s compensation, from the police chief to the school custodian. Wouldn’t you like to see that for your company?

OP here…Oracle mgmt are the sc-m of the earth. Even if you have a good one he will get on his weak less of man knees for his manager. What’s ironic is the women mgrs are totally worse to women. My God. I knew of a person with 12 years making 55k. Great worker. She was senior at her position. So her scumbag manager, someone who was part of the fake OWL hires a man. She pays him double. Give you one f-n guess who trained him? The senior making double!!!! These mgmt people are absolute sc-um!!!

You missed one:

  1. Any manager who actually TRIES to encourage you and help you enrich your career path will be immediately stymied by his manager and be put on some kind of "naughty" list along with the employee. I know it happened to me. Had a good manager (I know rare at Oracle) and well, he got the gate along with the rest of us.

OP…Thank you. And for anyone who is applying outside, looking. Keep your head up and just keep going. In all honesty, my years at O took a huge toll on my confidence and mental health. I’m a fairly level headed guy and have a great support system and even that wasn’t enough after many many years of wondering and wandering in the abyss.

You summed up the state of Oracle nicely, OP.

I could fill in the top 9 numbers, but it takes so much energy.
But to sum it all up:
Larry's amyloid lesions have been removed.
The cryogenic lab is set up on the island.
Carry on.

OP here. That’s really weird what the site did to my numbering. I assure you at oracle I knew how to count. Kinda.
