@2tga back here, just signed the papers.
Site: Fab 9
Job Level: 3
Job: Maintenance
Years of Service: 3
Severance: 90 days continued employment without duties + 4 weeks pay (the 2wk/yr doesn't kick in until 4 years), lump sum payment to cover COBRA for 4 additional months.
The contract puts an end date of June 30, 2023 for the 2022 layoffs.
I don't have much experience getting laid off, but this definitely offers me some flexibility I wasn't expecting.

Some manager pinged me to let me know that one of the people I work closely with was let go and that I should contact someone else from now on. Some of the verbiage they used seem to indicate this is only the "first" in a sequence.

Severence: will get a package from HR later. Everything continues till Mar 17th. + 4 months of Cobra + AIP + ESPP but manager doesn't see the package so need to wait for confirmation. Reason for layoff cited was affordability. And I absolutely do not believe it.

AIP is for level 6 and above. Level 5 and below are QPB. I’m level 5 and was switched to QPB last year.

@1civ+1k83LIUa Fake news. Has to be 90 days WARN pay, and 2 weeks for every year of service from what I am hearing.

We are definitely losing two people if my mgr's being real with hints dropped. No action today. Likely being told tomorrow/Wednesday. Only BMFICs being cut today.

First post is likely a fake. Been told that two weeks per year of service would be paid, not one. Only hearing of big names being popped. Engineers and techs will be Tuesday and Wednesday.

If you look people up in teams, the ones laid off have their status as unknown.

I know three director or sr director level are gone. I guess they will not post here. They are the ones who enjoyed the being managers these years.

Post ID: @1paq+1k83LIUa

I am not buying the first post that they were laid off. The big tip-off is the pay involving a week for every year served. Word has it that there will be two paid weeks for every year served.

Upper level managers and directors have been the news, today. Engineers and techs will be Tuesday and Wednesday.

Amen. Globalfoundries is sneaky scumbag tactics. Yes you can argue it’s “smart,” business moves. But everyone sees it for what it really is - shady rat business moves. You are right don’t ever trust Globalfoundries corporate and business units and leadership and really by extension the scripts they give our individual managers. It’s all fake “tow the company line” bullsh-t dressed up appear like it’s in our own personal best interests. Snake oil conman the whole lot of them

Vacation payout is required by law, as is Cobra coverage iirc- unless they’re paying the full premium.

So they are doing the absolute minimum legally required for the laid off folks. Not even releasing the already too little RSUs. Noobies take note and never be fooled again by bs corporate sweet talk.

It’s 90 days/Warn if site wide impact is 250 or more people. It’s not. The 60 days is correct

90day is WARN.
Something is wrong here.
