Lowe’s Is Undermining American Workers and Selling Out Our Future

Everyone knows it. Everyone sees it. But no one wants to say it out loud. So, here I am: the elephant in the room is that Lowe’s—a company that makes billions off American customers—is quietly undermining American workers right here at home.

Lowe’s proudly calls itself an American brand, yet they have and continue to push thousands of jobs overseas and filling local tech positions in their Charlotte hub predominantly with foreign workers on H-1B visas. Jobs that should belong to qualified American professionals. That’s not just unfair; it’s downright disgusting.

New graduates can’t get their first breaks. Experienced, loyal workers with deep knowledge are being shown the door. Why? Because corporate leaders decided it’s cheaper and easier to exploit visa programs and offshore labor than to invest in their own people.

It doesn’t stop at outsourcing. It has evolved into something far more insidious: former H-1B visa holders are now full-time employees strategically placed in lead and managerial roles, enabling a South Asian pipeline to manifest and extend its tentacles of nepotism. Only bringing in those who are from their own region or background, creating an environment that is less than patriotic and appears exclusionary.

This is a profound injustice to American workers, families, and communities alike. While Lowe’s rakes in profits from American shoppers, they cut costs by outsourcing opportunity. They preach 'diversity and inclusion,' but their actions tell a different story. One of displacement, exclusion, and exploitation.

The H-1B program wasn’t created to replace hard-working Americans — but that’s exactly how it's being we-ponized. It was intended to fill critical skill gaps, not to bankroll cheap labor overseas. Yet Lowe’s, a company with no retail presence in India, built an entire operation there for one purpose: to siphon off jobs from American professionals.

We deserve better. America deserves better!

“Third Party” delivery embodies the failed outsourcing of jobs to foreigners…yes ILLEGALS! Apathetic Hispanics who slam appliances into place at the customer’s home, denting the appliances and tearing up floors, door moldings and cabinets. Then they play the language barrier thing to avoid addressing complaints with the customer. All of this while driving Lowe’s vehicles! Then they come back into the stores to dump boxes into the receiving area, leaving them for actual Lowe’s employees to clean up, while they laugh all the way to the liq-or store. Call me “racist”, I dont give a FF! It is a FAILED program.

@2ry I appreciate you engaging. Let me be clear: this isn’t about race. It’s about systemic abuse of programs meant to support all workers fairly. When hiring pipelines and corporate decisions lead to exclusion, favoritism, or displacement, especially when it's tied to cost-cutting strategies, that needs to be called out.

It's about money and power, access, and accountability. If we can’t talk about uncomfortable patterns without being labeled, we’ll never fix the deeper issues.

If people see racism where I see corruption and exploitation, that says a lot about how far this conversation still needs to go.

@OP
Even 6-8 years ago one could make a career with Lowe's- not anymore. Just get out- it is a McJob. The company treats everyone like garbage, cuts hours, doesn't give out raises and then wonders why the workforce is such garbage. The pay is trash, the management is trash and Corporate constantly changing direction chasing the latest shiny object.

They also slashed all of the store staffing. No meaningful pay increases in the past 5 years despite crushing inflation. They are siphoning money off the local economies and it needs to stop. If they aren't going to pay employees fairly they need to be shut down and that goes for home depot, walmart and target as well.

Lowe’s doesn’t see India as a market to grow in — just a cheaper alternative to American workers. Instead of Lowe's expanding their retail footprint internationally (like opening stores or franchising in India), they built a tech and service hub there solely used to cut costs and siphon jobs that might otherwise be held by U.S. native workers.

Lowes is focused on the future. Americans on the ground helping customers and sending data needs overseas where they know how to work efficiently and don't complain about office returning rubbisĥ. That keeps prices down and I can sign up for this.

@a2 Don't make me laugh. This isn’t about effort. It's about corporate greed settling for cheap, low-quality labor that’s just the lowest bid, not the best. They don’t care about skill or value. Just slashing costs, even if it means garbage results.
