Any thoughts of when it might happen?

I find humor in the people that actually think railroad can't operate without them lol. We are all just a number here.

Up is so backwards of a place to work , so old fashioned , it’s like working somewhere in the 1880’s.

@2qsd I actually don't have any seniority, because I left that sh1thole. In case you missed the point, it's the reason I don't worry about my job anymore. People(you!) are getting too worked up over a possible scenario that you can do probably nothing to prevent. So why stress yourself over it? You made quite the assumption about seniority, but never asked if I had seniority. You just assumed I had seniority. If memory serves me correctly, the rounds of layoffs that the UP did do over the years, had absolutely NOTHING to do with seniority. Some people even left without being told to leave. Do you think those people gave a damn about seniority when they left? It's also the reason the UP has hiring issues. OOPS, I guess they didn't plan for that did they? They made their cuts wherever they wanted regardless of your seniority status. There was individuals with over 20 years of service that lost their jobs, because the company deemed them non-essential and some that just left because they got tired of the BS. Your post sort of highlighted the mentality of people on here, but you never questioned the mentality of the executives that caused all of these problems. So If you want to get into a debate about mentality issues, then I'm sure there's a different social media platform for that. I do know that alot of people are getting tired of being attacked on here by people making assumptions based on what they think they know.

@1gud-Yoh must have high seniority. Good for you. Glad to see that YOU don’t have to worry about YOUR job because “hey, that have to get rid of a lot of other people before they can get rid of me”. Honestly, I’m getting tired of this mentality. Years ago someone with more seniority fought for your job, now it’s time for you to return the favor.

Why all of the questions concerning when the layoffs may start back up? My advice would be to quit worrying yourselves over layoffs especially when they're still hiring for many locations, take comfort in knowing there's probably NOTHING you can do to prevent it from happening, and with the government watching very closely. If I happens, then it happens! Sorry if this offends people, but I gave up worrying about my job a very long time ago.

Whenever they decide your job can be combined with someone else’s position or they can eliminate your job completely. With all the postings in this site concerning layoffs it should be clear to everyone that there is not a single job in this company that is safe. Ever.
