Instead Of Firing Everyone, Boeing Offers "Voluntary Buyouts"

To Its Entire Workforce Of 161,000

https://www.zerohedge.com/economics/instead-mass-layoffs-boeing-offers-voluntary-buyouts-its-entire-workforce-161000

When Boeing requested a $60 billion bailout from the US government
a few weeks ago, the implicit assumption was that the company may get
some of this funding as long as the chronic stock repurchaser did not engage
in layoffs. That, however, did not stop the brilliant financial alchemists at the
aerospace giant who for the past 7 years turned debt lead into buyback gold,
and instead of issuing a record amount of pink slips,
Boeing generously offered voluntary buyouts to its entire staff of 161,000,
in a bid to shed costs and adapt the massive manufacturer to a coronavirus
crisis that could depress the aircraft market for years.

The move from the Company Which Hopes to Receive Tens of Billions whether
It employs workers or not,
should preserve much-needed cash at
Boeing, which is facing a sharp contraction in demand along with its European
nemesis Airbus. About 44% of aircraft across the globe are in storage due to
the coronavirus lockdown according to an estimate by Cirium,
and with virus cases approaching 1 million worldwide, there’s no telling
when carriers will return to normal schedules, no less buying planes.

Still think the Billions are for You the Taxpayer?

Sheep! The whole lot of ya! It’s just another illness. Not even as bad as the flu. The “numbers” aren’t the real numbers. Most do not show symptoms and you only get tested if you are in serious condition. Most have mild symptoms. Stay home and hide if you want. But it is what it is. Being scared and blaming people is exactly where they want ya little lamb.

I'm guessing you need at least a year at the company. I don't see why youd need more than a year to qualify for this VOL. Maybe people with higher seniority will be able to accept the offer first, but enough of them wont so I think anyone else who wants it should be able to get it. In fact, Boeing predicts that not enough people will accept it in general, so there may have to be an involuntary layoff after the VOL

Did Boeing itself actually say all employees would be eligible? Don't think so.

Nothing said Boeing was offering VLOs to their "entire" workforce. We don't know who will be eligible for it yet.

Boeing acknowledges ‘realities’ of market after Avolon cuts Max order

https://www.flightglobal.com/air-transport/boeing-acknowledges-realities-of-market-after-avolon-cuts-max-order/137737.article

Lessor Avolon’s
Cancellation of 75 Boeing 737 Max jets is set to provide a
degree of relief to the US airframer as it rejigs the extensive backlog for
the re-engined aircraft???????????????????????

By David Kaminski-Morrow Apr. 3 / 2020
After reading the entire article the author seems to be under the influence
of something, he is as clear as mud.

What I gathered is Boeing's stated views (which are all lies) are that this is
A good thing in order to maintain the value of the Max (value???)
Boeing wants to support the Price of the Max, in plane speak

The world is filling up nonsensical speak from Boeing
Boeing Management is aliening itself with its cartoon.

Voluntary Buyouts To Its Entire Workforce of 161,000

If it sounds too good to be true then it probably is. What is Boeing doing?
Are they playing to the audience of Government for billions more?
If Boeing can get Government to pay our wages to keep us on, they will!!
If Boeing can renegotiate union contracts they will!!
If Boeing can sweep everyone aside using VLO then rebuild by hiring / Re-hiring
They Will!!

Boeing’s only motives are cost reduction and wealth retention for Bonuses…
The well-being of the workforce is Not A Consideration…

Boeing Is Not To Be Trusted On Any Level:
If it sounds too good to be true then it probably is.

Be very careful when deciding to take the Boeing Offer. Six months from today
Will look very different, (hard immunity) will be in place around the world.
Air traffic and its needs will spin back up rapidly.
We have 28 weeks of unemployment, use it then come back to work.

Six months from Today 04/03/2020 the Max line Should, be back on line
Although Slow at first, it Should Grow
Optimistic yes
Life goes on
Life Today is not normal
Look Beyond Today…

400 weeks of inventory, no need to build, good point now.
Imbecilic Management, good point now, I hope they won’t be around that long.

Boeing is another year from getting the Max to fly
if it ever happens at this point.
They Might get it certified at some point
but it will be a year before we can deliver anything more than a plane a week
That’s 400 weeks, so with plenty of inventory, no need to build.

Remember we have to re-wire every plane on top of AOA debacle along with
The Rest of the Mess

The bottom line is due to their imbecilic management, we are all done

This looks like preparation for Chapter 11

With Boeing still maintaining that it expects regulators to certificate the Max
Around mid-year.
Certify it for who?
Who would take the aircraft, now that the customers do not have to due to
Contract Violations

Financial Alchemists is right they sure can’t manage manufacturing.
Now that Boeing has lost their edge in certifying their own aircraft, their done.
