Jack here. I'm not sure what the below poster is referring to. I have no plans for any new lists as of now. The Kmart count (which I manage), has been stubbornly stuck at around 34 for ages, and does not seem to be decreasing. Whenever it does, then I'll have a new list, but I don't have anything to report as of now.

Someone here mentioned Sears in Mesquite, Texas, a few days ago. That store is listed at TransformcoProperties as a "Completed Transaction", sold April 9, 2020: https://transformcoproperties.com/properties/at-town-east-mall/

The only currently open store listed as a "Completed Transaction" is the (known closing) Sears in White Plains, New York, lease assigned January 31, 2020: https://transformcoproperties.com/properties/at-the-galleria-at-white-plains/

Does anyone know if they are using liquidators or doing it themselves? Are they bringing in lots of extra product or just selling what they have?

The reason for the long closing for White Plains is because Sears has to give a 90 day Warn notice in NYS when there is a large layoff. When our store closed in April is was 4 days short of the 90 days so I got 4 days of Warn pay before I started collecting my 8 weeks of severance.

What about Jersey City though? Someone mentioned that about 5 Months ago but it's still open and not liquidating at all.

It says White Plains store doesn't close until February 21, 2021. Seems like a long time, I was hoping for a massive end of the year round of closures!!

Simply put, Sears and Sears management has treated a lot of loyal employees and customers horrible. It feels righteous to see them get their comeuppance by failing. Like watching the Berlin wall being knocked down. Hopefully some good folks will get severance too, like when Toys R Us died.

Please explain the fascination with store closings........ (“Can’t wait for some awesome closings”). Are you guys wholesalers or something looking to clear out the stores? I don’t get it.

Meh, take this list with a grain of salt. Someone posted around June that Jersey City Sears was closing but it never did, and even now, 5 Months later, is not closing at all. So I don't believe these lists until we see proof. As for OP's current closing list, here, only 3 of these 6 (the ones in MD, NC, & SC) have store closing jobs listed, so I wouldn't consider the others as closing, as of yet, any more than I consider Jersey City as closing (which someone listed 5 Months ago). Not Saying it won't happen, but it isn't true as of now.

Haven't seen Jack in a while but I hope he comes back soon. Can't wait for some awesome closings (if provable). As for the sports analogies, they are perfect. Sears is like Mike Spinks, who was sent into Orbit by Mike Tyson. The latter Mike Planted the former Mike's face on The Other Side of The Moon in the first round. That's where Sears (and Kmart for that matter) are right about now, LMAO!

Stop arguing, people! LOL, but seriously, so far only 3 of these are listed as closing. While the other 3 very well might close, they are not listed as of yet. Remember, back around June, someone mentioned Jersey City NJ Sears was closing, but that never happened. So take these with a large grain of salt until and unless you see the links. SO far, the stores in NC, SC, and MD have been linked. The others (just like Jersey City before) are to be determined.

Of course people will and should lose their jobs when obsolete industries go out of business. People lost their jobs making typewriters and fax machines, when computers were invented. People lost their jobs making horse buggies, when cars were invented. People lost their jobs on railroads when Air travel took off (pun intended). Things progress. And yes this is a game. Sears is down 200-0 with 2 Minutes left and no Timeouts. And the other team has the ball on Sears' 20 Yard line. Put differently, Sears is down 6-0, 6-0, 5-0, and Roger Federer is serving 40-0. Or they are down 20-0 in the 9th inning with 2 outs, nobody on. Translation=it's over. Quit this spammy loss prevention nonsense and get to the actual closing lists, with links, so we can keep accurate counts of the closing progress, which will hopefully be completed in Early 2021. Blast 'em outta here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Booya.

Will y'all shut the hell up about loss prevention? Nobody but nobody cares abou that trolling sh–. It' slike discussing the Hot dog vendor in a close football game. NOBODY CARES! It's neither here nor there. It's a complete non-sequitur that has nothing to do with anything. Talk about which stores are closing on WHAT DATE, and where the links are to that. If this was a game, discuss team A or team B. Don't discuss the food vendors or ticket takers. Mods should block this stupid loss and prevention bull sh!t.

Keeping these stores open until the last week of January makes no sense given their current inventory.... unless, these they plan to close all the other stores first and ship what’s left of their stock to these last 6 stores to liquidate what’s left.... although that would be dumb too, they’d been better off to close them all now and ship what’s left to a liquidator and be done

Make that 3 of them. Concord is listed:

https://jobs.sears.com/en-US/search?keywords=%22store%20closing%22&location=

I contacted local media in all 3 towns so far, so hopefully we can get some external links. Wikipedia will not allow edits to store counts, until there is an external link.

Here now, they have the link for Concord NC:

https://jobs.sears.com/en-US/search?keywords=%22store%20closing%22&location=

Still curious as to why they chose these random 6 locations scattered all over the country, instead of concentrating on 1 area at 1 Time. And why only 6? Oh well, hopefully a lot more soon to come. Looks like the dominoes are starting to fall. Good deal.

Was at the Sears at Town East Mall in Mesquite TX last month. The store looked like it was being cleaned out. Large areas of empty space roped off and what merchandise was left taking up a smaller footprint of the store. The Craftsman area was especially empty.
