Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

Any news on the engineers being the next?

There’s a lot of talk about it. Anyone know more about it?

One salary of an Engineer = 20 PM salaries … , that’s why we have many PMs and aAI focus on replacing Engineers

IF there has to be layoffs they need to start with the "Project Managers" seriously how many Project Managers does a company need??? And especially if they are still WFH??? It seems these people are less valuable then actual Engineers, Sales, Customer Service, MFG.

all the people being laidoff can thank their PG VP and sr.dir for not meeting their revenue targets. They ensured that they continued to have their jobs while you guys are let go.

I've heard target %'s for groups from 15%-40%. Higher percentages will come to VxRail and Multicloud.

A bloodbath for some :(

They just need to focus engineers on actually products to sell to customers, instead of all the internal vanity software projects just to compete with other departments that will never go to market.

The title Engineers is such a broad one. Engineers from what location? RR has lots of them. What areas or groups? Share more!

so does this mean products are being discontinued as well or is the work going offshore? Just getting rid of engineers to get rid of engineers doesn't make sense. They must be sunsetting projects/applications as well. The PowerProtect products are still going full force, looking to go four releases in fact so I don't see many jobs being cut there unless they're going to be offshored.

Heard all engineering will be outsourced to one of the Indian SI partners, most likely HCL

Yes. The hammer falls in September. My understanding is that the brutality will be unmitigated and unimagineable.
