Thread regarding Target Corp. layoffs

They have a new way to get rid of people, without a public layoff.

They tell you that you're underperforming and that you can either give your two weeks or go on probation (and most look likely bwill get fired.) This has happened to two different peopl I know, who did not know each other. They both have said the same thing about what they were told. These people have taken on extra work since March, but the positions are probably going to be eliminated or go to India. I will say, these positions were looked at going over seas prior to March as well. Someone else said they heard about another person this happened to.

No respect? Don't know when the ax will fall? Condescension, rules spun against you? Welcome to store level. Better learn to samba or swim.

That's not new, it's been Target policy for years. At the top of your pay grade? Over 38? Like your family? Haven't attended enough GTKYs and HHs to have enough dirt on coworkers to make KMG? Hate the stupid acronyms? Get ready to get gone.

Many of the disappeared are competent and received excellent reviews earlier, but TGT is willing to gamble on finding someone cheaper. Public layoffs are just a good way to show shareholders management is 'working'. Down-low 'separations' are where the real money is.

What's awesome is how a thread is forced from discussions of termination and performance management to someone's wife's shopping and walmarts logistics performance. #loser

@FecRwSM-1rgo - way to be forceful and the use of "loser" is awesome.

This seems to be the norm as it just happened to me...I was there a long time 20 + and I am over 50; about three months ago, I had heard the new tactic was over 50 and 15 + ...they make it a performance issue; I am glad I am gone;

This is just another quiet purge. These unfortunate souls didn't notice that the GTKY coffee status crowd are back in business after being in hiding since last March.

Well, our new COO and the SVP of grocery should fit this category nicely. Wife just got back from grocery trip with only half her list fulfilled. BC can plow their salaries back into the stock buy back program.

They have not replaced Wally's World in logistics. Walmart hands down knows how to keep its shelves stocked. Walmart also knows how to function outside of the US.

Target only cares about Target. They prefer employees who have no life... who will work whenever needed, if needed, and preferably who don't participate in their benefits. They will use every and any strategy that works. They will do whatever it takes so that they don't pay unemployment. Welcome to Target World... they have replaced Wally's World quite well..... but if you think for one minute that public layoffs aren't coming... you are fooling yourself.

Conform, perform or get cut. Why is this difficult to understand. It's a job, part of your job is to prove your worth and value end of story. Harsh but real.

@FecRwSM-udt - you are right it is not new, however it is used against anyone who does not conform. I have seen plenty of poor performers who take smoke breaks hourly get to serve out their time respectably and at an EC level too.

That's not new, that's the right way to get rid of poor performers.
