No layoffs are not unethical, however UHG's methods for choosing who to lay off are unethical. However going through the headache and the time it would take to seeing through a complaint to the labor board, I'm happily taking my severance and leaving the toxic environment. We'll see how you feel when you have busted it all year performing at a 5 level and your eval says you're a 2. Managers were told they had a give out so many 2s. Some cases they were told they had to give specific person a 2. I know someone that had created a
tremendous amount of value for the organization last year, extremely knowledgeable, high producer, great all around teammate. His manager tried every thing to keep and they wouldn't allow. I'm certain they eliminated the highest paying positions and any position where the teammate had exhibited a high level of ethics. They gave no thought to the knowledge and experience they're losing. Leaving behind low performing unethical teammates that have no problem lying and cheating so the DOJ can surpass last year's 21 cases filed against UHG and/or its entities. Actual impact UHG has on US health care, higher costs and more people without access to affordable health care.

Agreed!! I kinda wish this site wasn't anonymous so then the company could get rid of the "cancerous tumors" faster.

: @2llp+1lDfahVu- my sincere apologies! Correction- UHG execs to stuff pockets with stock options. Unethical practices to intentionally deny/delay pre-authorize to fu@@ PTs? Perhaps you can use some $$ to buy the investigation by gov? More layoffs to pay for lawsuits? It’s time for wolf in sheep’s cloak to run to another org. ? Come out and face the justice don’t hide behind this forum to try to do damage control.. karma is real!!

Is it? Why can’t you give back the stock options and bonuses you collected with the rest of the execs? Taking some accountability and ownership- UHG top 7 netted $75M in 2021 when average worker made $64.5K?

Per 2022 proxy, CEO overall comp = 301 times of average worker comp. We hope you can look in the mirror the many workers got displaced when you are filling your pockets with bonuses and stock options.

It is not UNETHICAL to do layoffs when the company is faced with Medicare Advantage rate changes. It is actually being good stewards to the investors of the company. I am sure everyone will give me a thumbs down on this post, but if you are all so bitter, just leave. Stop being the cancer in the company that spreads negativity.
