Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

Why so miserable??

If you are SO UNHAPPY at Macy’s and can’t wait for them to fail, why do you work there?? No one is forcing you to be employed there.

In fact, the managers, colleagues and customers who do like working and shopping at Macy’s would prefer if you take your negative attitude elsewhere.

It’s ridiculous the amount of complaining going on here. Seriously, if you’re that miserable, go somewhere else.

All these miserable people complaining here wonder why they are not being called back??? I think you have your answer!

Find a new job, we don’t need you. Complaining without doing anything to change the situation is WHINING. And for the record, you don’t know what is going on because you’re not in the loop.

Good luck to everyone who actually wants to work and be at Macy’s. Complainers can go away for good! I hope those that want to work and enjoy being at Macy’s are brought back because you all deserve it!

I like work in Macys. But I don’t like work under this kind leader. Always put all mess under the table. She does not Qualify if base on her knowledge. But she knows how to please her upper people. That why she can stay and to be one of leader.

Macy's should participate in nationwide protest going on right now ... Instead of that stupid July fireworks.

If you left two years ago why are you still here? Why still posting? Sounds like you should be paying more attention to your new job.... Always someone's else's fault right?

When I was first employed with the company, I was in heaven. Promoted over the years and now a store executive who sees more behind the scenes things regular associates will never see or know. The culture is HORRIBLE. Horrible horrible people up the ladder!!!!! HORRIBLE. I am no longer happy and trying to plan my next move. Over 10 years with this company and I’m disgusted at how horrible these people really are. I don’t come on here and complain but I read to see if others feel the same. Making this post to let you know these “complainers” are not making this stuff up. Is it all stores, no. But it’s definitely in a lot of stores. And what I’ve read, 90% is something I’ve witnessed or experienced. But I’m mostly referring to “corporate and regional” levels. Horrible people!!!! Oh, and none of them give a *f about you. Trust me.

Who will buy at Macy's?

41 million have lost jobs since virus hit.

Roughly 2.1 million people applied for U.S. unemployment benefits last week, a sign that companies are still slashing jobs in the face of a deep recession even as more businesses reopen and rehire some laid-off employees

"To all the complainers and pessimists... Macy's shares had the largest percentage gain on record... Our shares rose 19.6% today :)"

Jeff's using his balls as the ball on the big roulette wheel. Hope they don't land on zero.

THAT'S BECAUSE WE PUT ALL THE REAL ESTATE UP AS COLLATERAL- NO PAY- THEY LOSE THE FARM PIECE BY PIECE. and that farm's value isn't close to what it was pre-covid 19. We will have to sell locations for a low price inc some prime ones. The name and legacy are worth $$$- may be sold. FYI retailers do not make a profit til end of year. Let's hope that fab brain trust can figure out a real strategy that does not involve Polaris, The Big Dipper or twinkle, twinkle little star.

Just gonna stand there and watch me burn
Well that's alright, because I like the way it hurts
Just gonna stand there and hear me cry
Well that's alright, because I love the way you lie
I love the way you lie

I can tell you all for a fact... it( the retail business) was never this way .. it was an easy place and happy 😃 place to come to you came in and did your job your manager was on equal footing with you and your store manager was approachable and congeal and there is no tension everybody work closely together. My first retail job was in the 70s I work for Sears my store manager we would shoot pool together play ping-pong they had a big break room back in those days lunch hour could turn into hours because the store manager didn’t like being beat he was competitive and of course my store manager would make a face that me and my store manager because we were gone so long.
They did have cameras back then I remember the other coworker that I was working with she and I were in an aisle and she was showing me some dance moves and of course he had been watching on the video monitor it made mention to both of us that we should be working instead of doing that course that embarrassed us. Even back then and we could see it when they would bring things to the register because price tickets on a lot of things were put on with needles and they would take tickets off of lower price things naturally and put them on higher price things.. People were still people I don’t ever remember taking a coupon back then.Of course people read the paper they were ads my manager was in charge of putting the ad section together that’s where they put the specials and of course there’s always a limited supply. Sears was at malls and had standalone stores They were called surplus stores they carried everything from guns to office equipment the baby clothes. If the power went out we could still run the register with the handcrank and you would put it on the side to run the register of course there is exemplary lighting never got to experience that but trained on that. We would eat lunch together we would socialize together we would drink together during those times business wasn’t hard people came to you I guess because we had everything and of course we see how times of changed and that’s the hard part that no one likes. This was in my first job but it was my first retail job people treated people then it seems like with respect and kindness it was definitely different times.

M is bad company and should be avoided at all costs. Look at top leadership and source of misery becomes instantly clear.

It’s really sad you all had this much hardship.
I do feel badly for you.

I know many people within the company and have never heard of so much misery as I do here.

I guess I am lucky to be in a good store with a terrific Store Mgr.

Very sad to see so many people treated this way.

Hopefully changes will come to be better for all.
All the best!

If you are happy you are lucky enough to be in a microuniverse within the parent company in which you work with supportive, informative, hardworking coworkers and supervisors which has created its own environment. This is not the norm. You are truly blessed.
Most of us have first or second hand experience of what truly awful, deceitful megalomaniacs those at the top are. We have watched them destroy employees for the joy of it. They also are lousy merchants. They deserve to be called on their misdeeds and this is one of only a few places to express that.
If you are, in fact, in charge of posting these "I love Macy's" you losers" missives look in the mirror and ask yourself if your mother would be proud of what you turned out to be.

Keep drinking the kool aid. Keep both eyes shut. No need to see what’s coming. Just keep paddling up sh–s creek cause you feel you’re above everything and everyone. People are legal allowed to vent on their frustrations of a work place. Hopefully someone will read it and really make a change. But you know how M is. They say yes I see that isn’t working so they have a big meeting about and 2 weeks later it’s forgotten.

See this is my point. I just put a question out there and right away someone insults me and immediately tells me I am wrong.

Am I wrong for liking my job and the fact that
I do very well at Macy’s and I’m proud of what I have done? I’m working there and truly enjoying it.

I do think some things could be better....but I don’t insult people for asking a question. I find solutions and participate in my job.

You should wake up and realize negativity effects everything and everyone around you, guessing that’s why you’re leaving or have already left.

Good luck! Hope the best for you!

Most of us have already left or on the verge of leaving. Most of us are saddened to see such a great company crumble to the ground via incompetent leaders. Most of us have TRIED for years to get the RIGHT direction.

The company is run by id–ts who think they are doing the right thing, but in reality are failed leaders or cheap talent who is afraid to leave.

The company is stuck in 2009 and refuses to adjust. The company wants to focus on all the WRONG things while making life miserable for the grunts on the front lines.

The CEO is paid millions of dollars while we can't even get a bonus for giving 110% year after year after year.

The technology part of the company (once a shining star) has been FLOODED with cheap labor who can't even keep things running when we need them. They've outsourced all the maintenance to the point we don't even know who is working on the sh– in our stores.

How about you WAKE the F**K up? How's the PR group treating you?
