Thread regarding State Street Corp. layoffs

Will layoffs continue in 2025?

I know November 20th is the last schedule staff reduction date for 2024, but has anyone heard anything on them continuing into next year?

Its done. Statestreet laid off several senior memebers this week who were with company for a long time. These layoff also happened in their Burlington CRD office. It might be 1 to 2%.

If you look at the STT stock price it's been moving up so no layoff the 2025! Deregulation plays well for the banking sector, but give it a few years for trade wars, deportation, deregulation, etc... to play out. Will be a good few years for banks until the stuff hits the fan and most likely we will all get layoff at some point. I worked with SVP & EVP that was let go, so no one is safe.

It depends on how well the decision-makers value your worth. Some people are put into leadership positions where they don't quite grasp how workers in their org chart contribute to the company. These decision-makers could be recently hired and just review the data that were gathered by other teams (HR, consulting teams). The worst decision-makers are the ones who have been in their organization for a while but are completely clueless and lay off the wrong workers. It has a rippingly effect (churn and burn) in the organization and the higher-ups either never realize it or don't care. Never let your guard down with State Street.

You are probably going on the layoff list whether its now or in the future.
The company already has job descriptions so why are they asking you to give
them an updated one?

Did your boss give you more job duties not related to your job ?

Layoffs and staff reductions happens every year.

I used to work on various assignments to gather info (skills, salaries, roles etc) and place them in ppt slides for different business units. It was not an environment where you have time to stop and question because of the short timelines and have to juggle multiple projects. I was naive back then and thought it was too help the workers in the business units. Nope. Our deliverables were only given to VPs and above where they decide who to lay off and replace with incompetent workers.
