I was skeptical of the “independent in-house” business model of L48 and honestly didn’t like the audacity and cockiness of the L48 crew. I had an opinion at one point to go over there but felt the survivability at bp was more attractive, all things considered. I was wrong. I wish I had taken the opportunity when presented, because the cockiness and audacity are exactly why, much to the chagrin of those like me who want to see BPX fail, they won’t. They will stay in Denver for the foreseeable future, they will continue to add value and we will grow in dependence on them to deliver. They will be here longer than most of us here and future CEOs. If they are ever “sold off” it’s because they out grew and out paced us and that would be to our detriment and would be a failure on our part. If you are hanging onto these ideas because you believe you are ITK, you aren’t. If you say you heard something and then post it here, you are either embellishing, lying or both.
