In any other circumstances I would welcome being laid off. But I’ve been looking for another job for half a year now, and nothing. It’s really bad out there. I have dependents and debt, and I can’t afford to be jobless for more than a month or two. I know that many of us are in the same boat. I wish, at least, that anticipation and anxiety is already over, so I can start dealing with the fallout.

First of all, you shouldn't be in a situation where you're in debt and can't make it without pay for 1-2 months. Stop the door dash, streaming, subscriptions, eating out, AND your retirement savings (temporarily), etc. Act as though you're unemployed NOW, and stop all but absolute necessary spending (rent/mortgage, utilities, auto payment, insurance, basic groceries and debt). Set some money aside with your new windfall from stopping impulse buying and start to build aggressive savings. You need to create a budget and stick to it. There are plenty of YouTube videos to help you get started. You can do this!
If we survive…. To those who survive they should get on it asap. Starting the 16th
Hi
Yeah stop blathering about unions... we are all getting laid off and a union wouldn't fix anything. Its the strategy and execution we need to fix.
Unionized? Ba ha hah ha ha ha
This troll comes out of the ground every few weeks or so. Never happen. The company is going under, high tech isn't unionized. So go to work for the government and su-k on the teats of the tax payers if you want to be in a union. You must be voting for the border czar judging from post.
Intel ICs should have unionized when they got the wake up call from the grossly unfair practices which began under BK.
You should be panicked. No one is hiring former Intel employees. In fact, some places have outright stated it. So it’s panic time
America is the greatest country in the world, until you lose your job or your health.
May god help you if you lose either.
Bummer for you dude.
You should've left a long time ago.
And you shouldn't have debt. Live within your means.
@1gxe+ Intel isn't the only company reducing their headcount this year. That 15-20k is just a drop in a bucket.

I am also searching for work, it's like trying to find a lemonade stand in the Mojave desert.
I get it OP. If you make it through this round, I hope you acquire new skills to be hirable outside of Intel. Longer term, please do not depend on Intel to take care of your dependents and debt. Depend on yourself to get a job elsewhere.
Now throw in the 15-20,000 of us all applying for the same 10 openings. Sh--s about to get real.
The tech industry is saturated. Too many heads looking for few jobs. Many ran to tech, because the money good and the perception even though many were underwhelming. Cybersecurity & AI will see similar trends.
Winter is coming...
Have had several final rounds but was not chosen in favor of someone with apparently more experience.
@1rwe
I know of 6 who CPM'd and have new jobs. 2 in the last round, 4 in this round.
Is anyone actually landing other jobs? I have been applying for better half of a year and majority of my teammates have been too. Coming up goose eggs. We all feel stuck and trapped. Is anyone actually leaving?
Tech jobs are still there, but you need to think outside the box. Yes, semiconductor and PC/Electronic type jobs are non-existent right now but with all the tech going into other things, it may be time to branch out. Not only automotive, but defense and even farm equipment.
For example, ag / warehouse equipment have been integrating Lidar for years for autonomous work.
Exact same boat as you. Tech job market has been sh!t since rates started going up.
Best of luck and focus on what you can control.
Even if you're lucky enough to keep your job, you'll wake up every morning stepping over your homeless neighbor, chef, and oil changer now that they have less paying customers.
No one will hire us. Intel personal haven been black listed
At this point it is out your control so any energy spent worrying about it is wasted. start working on an exit plan that will give you control and of your life again. Assume the best and plan for the worse as they say. Fear is not your friend so figure out how you can get past it.
What a great example of a statement that contradicts itself. "Tech jobs will be a thing of the past very soon" but, despite that "You must not be that valuable if u can't find anything out there". Would be wise to ignore this guy.
What a rotten, selfish thing to say! The layoff can happen to people at any grade level or skill level.
You must not be that valuable if u can't find anything out there. Skill up while you can. Tech jobs will be a thing of the past very soon.
