I am very dissatisfied with the leadership here and have been trying to leave for three months now. I still haven’t found anything much better, but I’m not giving up. I'm getting less and less picky though. Are there any of you who would accept even jobs that are paid a little less, just to get out of here as soon as possible?

Either scenario is not great but the nm I knew for many years only supported and advanced white men, and women often found themselves working longer and harder to still not come close to where men were (while being treated like secretaries and objects for male colleagues to enjoy). I'm sorry to hear that a bad situation is happening the other way too. If only leaders of any gender could be decent and honest.
"they are so used to getting a pat on the back for being a white male and coming to work everyday and making 150k/year." ?? More like coming to work as a white male and being shamed, abused, harassed and belittled by lunatics like Sangeetha, Hanneman, Gabornitz, Jackson, and many other ra-----s.
Ah, @2ijh+1grhSb1t, good olde ageism.
I'm looking for the "right" next thing as well - realize it might not be as cushy as NM with guaranteed bonus etc but as long as I can pay the bills and still save for retirement, worth it. I don't even remember what it feels like to be motivated at work anymore, and it sucks.
I worked with many great local contractors over the years and our work and team was better for it. It used to be we'd take on contractors so that we could scale up or down and obviously not impact our employees, it worked in many cases. Big question is, what are they doing about the useless lifers who are in their 40s/too early too retire? Many are so behind when it comes to skills. They have golden handcuffs and no incentive to leave - they'd never make what they do now elsewhere but they couldn't function or aren't qualified for outside jobs bc they only know nm and haven't bothered to learn anything new since they were an intern 20 years ago... they are so used to getting a pat on the back for being a white male and coming to work everyday and making 150k/year.
An interesting analogy re. NM and Thomson Reuters/Refinitiv/LSEG. I worked at both as a contractor and NM as an employee. I absolutely was not a cheap contractor for either organization. Contracting is a good fit for some at different points in their careers.
NM is notorious for underpaying contractors whether they are onshore or offshore. I laughed after I was forced into retirement at NM and received a call for a contract position. I told the recruiter they wouldn't match my rate and sure enough I never heard from them again. And, why in the world would I go back to a place that didn't want me. I fail to understand why many do.
Offshore contractors receive low pay and in many cases there is a good reason for this. Onshore contractors & co. employees have to interpret the work for them & hold their hands. Thus, it's not really cheaper...it just appears that way which makes leadership at NM feel good.
The whole free lunch is such a scam. They do it because it ties you in to staying on campus and having working meetings during lunch. I billed for those required working meetings during lunch as a contractor @ NM since I got paid by the hour and was indeed working.
Its interesting to me to see the shift back to contractors. Seems very cyclical to me. They were harping on reinvesting into employees and moving away from contractors, at least in my department and now I hear we have no budget for even a p1 but we do for contractors?
Is NM copying the Thomson-Reuter/Refinitiv/Lseg culture?
Both companies have cheap and low-skilled contractors, poorly paid lower lever associates, highly paid manipulating worthless managers and above, that boils down to poor leadership.
As far as NM goes I feel bad been there, and done that.
Some teams can drive you insane and your P4, ADs and Senior (jokers) directors get to relax and make useless suggestions by interrupting with their 0 cents.
NM culture has Ben declining. NSs departure made it clear.
Why pay employees less and give any salary raise year on year but provide free lunch to contractors is beyond my comprehension.
Keep looking and don't leave NM unless it's getting truly intolerable. You have the benefit of potentially having more remote roles open to you as well now (def if youre in tech). Stretch out your PTO so you don't lose it. Research, research, apply and interview hard-core. Reach out to your network. Don't give up, you'll find something. I landed a local job a step up with 40% salary increase and better bonus target. Negotiate smart but don't go crazy. As a hiring manager, i see people are asking for some ridiculous salaries given the market. They don't even make it thru screening so don't disqualify yourself. It's hard but it will pay off!
