Much is generally written about how there are plenty of opportunities for those who want to transfer their skills from this sector to the renewables industry. I tried to make a transfer, but it's not that simple and easy. At least not in my case. How does one make the leap? Do you know of any positive experiences?

@2ies is right. This happened in ReShape. I know several New Energies type positions that got multiple applications from Shell staff and the hiring managers ended up not selecting any of them and instead pushed for experienced external hires.
Good luck! I think once the management is in place they will look for a specific skill set, realize you don't have the right experience, and make a case to hire externally, or acquire the skills through an acquisition. Shell has done this before; it's actually the MO. I don't see how a well engineer, or subsurface geoscientist can transfer any skills (outside project management) to wind, solar, tidal, etc. There very different skills. Make the jump early because competition is going to be steep when the rats realize the ship is sinking.
I think all the new energy works are still in planning phase which only needs the higher JG. Once it’s in execution phase, they will open the door for everyone to apply. Good luck OP
