Fitbit was something that was going to die anyway with the emergence of smartwatches. Was Fitbit envisioning people wearing both a smartwatch and a Fitbit? Google probably saved jobs by acquiring Fitbit.

Google destroys every product it develops or acquires. This is not new. They are fortunate that Search generates so much revenue. I don't know what they will do when Bing/ChatGPT become the new gold standard for finding info on the internet
