If last week layoffs were going to continue, it would most likely be today, as Wednesday is the usual layoff day. Should we be worried?

Layoffs will continue for years so get used to this new life style aka always looking over your shoulder
It’s V-H day, the war is over. No more layoffs!
Layoffs will continue until morale improves, or at least until the fat trimming starts impacting business and there was a lot of fat to trim, so the layoffs might get smaller but the tuning and trimming wont stop.
HT at some point said that he's not done cutting expenses / optimizing operations until it hurts the businesses' Financials.
So, layoffs and cost cutting and divestitures are never "done". Ever.
As long as you and your role adds value and you're not a pain in the rear, you'll be fine. Otherwise, you're not. Plain and simple
Layoffs are still not done.
I am still there.
@2fvm+1rRD1Ms9 Will need to bring back Micromanager positions and possibly need more than VMware had. Those who are assigned to head in and on vacation might be violating RTO. To someone put someone on a disciplinary plan that needs a long time to build the case or risk being sued. Talking about company-wide here.
"No one at the CA acquired mainframe division has gotten layoff since acquisition been 5 years we are very conformable here."
It's true, CA is populated with retired ex-IBM employees who are experts in mediocrity.
"Do you know of any BC policies stating that there will be consequences for "violating" RTO policy and getting fired (without severance)? What exactly is to be violated without specifying a company-wide policy or clause?"
Failing to follow a management request can be construed as gross misconduct - 3 strikes and you are out is policy - and it will be without severance.
So by all means continue your toddler mentality and stamp your feet - sooner you're gone the better for the rest of us.
Have to say life at BCOM is much better than it was at VMware - far fewer wasters and roadblocks. If free coffee is your measure of a company go work at McDonalds.
Plenty more of you home working immature baby slackers to get rid of yet
If you're in the US and live in an at-will state, it's time to find another job.
Broadcom will abuse that. That's their M.O.
Folks in the EU will be protected by labor laws.
The only things that Hock Tan is interested in is profit and making money for shareholders. That's it.
Run.
Layoffs will continue through the rest of the year. If you are on transition, you know your separation date. Don't be surprised if it's brought forward. BC need to cut expense every way possible. If you're in an FTE role but live more than 50 miles away from the office, it's just a matter of time. If you're not in an engineering role and is heavy on the payroll, it's just a matter of time. This is the BC way. Love it or leave it.
No one at the CA acquired mainframe division has gotten layoff since acquisition been 5 years we are very conformable here.
This is the way!
How daft are you? Last weeks layoffs are done because last week is done but there will be plenty more rounds and plenty more early transition terminations.
Be afraid. Be very afraid.
@1usn+1rRD1Ms9 Do you know of any BC policies stating that there will be consequences for "violating" RTO policy and getting fired (without severance)? What exactly is to be violated without specifying a company-wide policy or clause? So, what's left to penalize people who refuse to head in? There are only two left. Layoff/transition or let it be. Use some common sense, please. It is free.
Layoffs will never to done. Accept it or move on. I'm happy for every day I have at Broadcom!
I highly doubt they would give you a package for violating the RTO policy. I call bullsh-t.
Yes, it's done
The best thing about this very frequent layoff program is that if you are still stuck with BC and waiting for a package, there is a switch that you can enable. Just don't go into the office if you are within 50 miles. You will eventually get a package. Knowing that logic is true, you can control around when to leave and get a nice package along with it. For those who desire to stay, that's tough. Your entire career focus will be on - when the layoff is coming and when it will end and you know the answer well. You will not have a career as you will get random assignments due to a staff shortage.
I was a long-time VMware employee, and until recently was in a transition in a leadership role driving post-acquisition integration with Broadcom. To put it simply, every ex-VMware employee who remains at BC need to re-calibrate your expectations that at BC the layoffs are never done. Ever.
There are still a lot of moving parts related to the business integration, and the overall performance/cost structure of each division will continue to be re-evaluated and fine-tuned - including headcount. Unfortunately, the days of weathering VMware's once-a-year February rightsizing exercise are over. If you are not comfortable with your new reality, then you need to find another job at a different company.
AVGO's institutional shareholders will demand that HT continues to reduce the loan debt from the VMware acquisition, so the headcount cuts will be an ongoing reality for some time to come. HT knows that the cuts can continue without any impact on the business.
Those who remain will pick up the slack because they're afraid. Al least for now.
Sorry, but you’ll have to continue sleeping with 1 eye open. The past layoff waves didn’t follow any standard structure. A friend of mine was canned on a Monday, I got a notice on a Thursday, others received theirs the next week on a Wednesday etc.
All done. You can stop visiting here
Aha! We're still waiting for it in France ! Soon apparently. ** So bored waiting **
You should be worried if you are working in Broadcom and not if you are being laid off. Its better to get out than waking up everyday and wondering if my job will be there or not.
