Asked to be a CW and a pay cut. I was asked to become a CW because of HC on the FTE side. The offer from the contract company is ridiculous when they aren’t even paying for benefits on someone. We need to push back if a CW. I have seen what they paid by HP.

CWs get paid??
Take the money and run. If they give you a check, take it. When they stop, leave. Don't get hung up on praise and platitudes. They are empty emotions. Don't worry about giving them what they need - focus on giving them what they want. Su-k up and cash the checks.
@2fj Again I agree. Legacy PC market in general is doomed for downfall with more powerful handhelds and mini PCs roll around. So why isn't HP looking into those? Maybe because so much resources are spent maintaining those legacy processes or feeding old timers to manually edit Excel databases. With no bandwidth in proper R&D, what new product lines do you expect from HP? We can barely handle updating CPU chipset efficiently, let alone a form factor change or any major breakthrough in that regards.
Anyway, I'm done explaining my points. FTE or not, we are all losers in the long run, feeding our souls into a company barely trying to stand up.
That's not going to help IMO. They just don't have anything new to generate revenue.
Because they can't compete price-wise.
@2an I am in agreement with you with the last point there. The decline will continue no matter CW or FTE. What I'm referring to is not necessary agile methodology as well, I'm taking about doing things more efficiently instead of following legacy processes that obviously do not work in a fast pace environment that management is expecting us to be in. So my point is, new CW or new FTE with fresh opinions can change that, and should be empowered to do so.
Seriously, JIRA is still not widely adopted in HP, that should say a lot about legacy process.
And no, my comment is not directing towards print division.
Never understood why HP didn't push personal 3d printers. They could be the market leader instead of cheap China knock offs
No matter what you believe, people aren’t going to invent a new iPhone just because you tell them to be agile and think about their workflow.
The issue is marketing and sales don’t come up with something important for the other employees to work on. Your comments don’t even justify the air needed to say them.
HP, since the 90s, has failed to come up with something new and significant to follow up the inkjet. Oh wait, 3D printing! No. The decline will continue CW or FTE.
In my opinion, working with CW, and to a certain extend, new FTE is a much more pleasant experience than those old timer FTW who still thinks legacy methodologies are the best.
"Oh you are trying to use Power Automate, I don't know what's that. Excel is the best."
"Oh you are tracking your tasks with Kanban board, why not use post it notes?"
"This guy is trying too hard, guys please do not listen to him. There is a way HP does thing and he's not it"
And the cherry on top, imagine managing software releases without proper tools like JIRA or the necessary branch management know-how.
There is a reason why HP is not growing in market shares for years now and it's not because of CW. Maybe stop treating this place like a retirement home and actually be agile? How about taking a look outside of HP and see how other companies are actually innovating their workflows?
I personally would like to see an end to long term Contract Workers in any company. If you work at any company longer than 3 months you should be not considered a "temp" worker and be now a permanent worker for that company. Corporations should be reined in for abusing workers like this.
HELP I AM SHADOW BANNED I THINK ERNEST IS ONTO ME
I would gladly take a pay cut if it means Enrique can jet around the world to his properties.
Damn some people get paid that much? I’m close to the poverty line. I work 8-6 then go to target for my second job.
"I’m being asked for go from 115k per year to $90k. Who do these recruiters think they are? Do they not know what I can do with that $25k?"
Of course they do--it is called "market adjustment." They know they have the upper hand when they offer 90k and get tens of qualified resumes within a day. Blame it on the government for wanting lower wages without reducing the cost of living.

I’m already a CW and am being asked for the third time to take a pay cut. Get used to it missy, and welcome to the blade.
is it better than unemployment and no benefits?
Downgrading FTEs to CW is a disturbing trend in IT right now.
You only hear about the highly paid Google and Meta employees, but many are in the same situation as you are. Why pay for your benefits when your job can simply be offshored to Mexico or India for a fraction of what you are earning? I see more and more of my friends and former colleagues who have completely pivoted away from IT jobs.
