Thread regarding Sears layoffs

ONLY

Just to clear up all the nonsense and confusion, THESE ARE THE ONLY STORES that are currently liquidating:

https://www.sb360.com/select-projects/events/sears-list/

(Bronx and Massapequa already closed without liquidating).

BUT NOTHING ELSE IS CLOSING. Not Tukwila, not Avenel, not any of the USVI stores, not Ft. Lauderdale, not Hamilton, NOT ANYTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If it ain't on the above SB360 page, it isn't closing, so stop claiming that every store and it's cousin are closing. Only (and I repeat ONLY) what is on that page, are closing. Full stop.

@2eyb+1dgxEWfB Let me repeat slowly, so you can all understand it. Since 2020, ALL liquidations were/are/will be, handled by SB360. Astor Place, Massapequa, & Bronx were NOT liquidations. They just closed and transferred the sh!t elsewhere. Any and all LIQUIDATIONS were, are, and will be, handled by SB 360, as per their contract with Sears.

And these, so-called, "non-liquidation" closings, are anomalies, or exceptions to the rule. They only work, in the rare case, where there's a nearby store to transfer the merchandise. For example, when Astor Place NY Kmart, closed, this Summer, there were still two Bronx Kmarts nearby where they could transfer all their sh!t. When Bronx 1 Kmart, recently closed, there was Bronx 2, only four miles away, where they could transfer stuff. And when Massapequa closed, they transferred the stuff to the nearby, liquidating, Brooklyn Sears so they could just liquidate all their sh1t, there.

Look at the map. How many Kmarts or Sears have nearby stores to transfer stuff anymore? Very few. The only closely located stores, are in USVI, the Sears/Kmart in PR (which share a parking lot, although they are different brands), and maybe Avenel/West Wood, but even they are over 40 miles apart. Bronx and Bridgehampton are almost 100 miles apart!

So, I don't think you'll be seeing much, if any, of this non-liquidation, closing stuff going forward. Well, one exception I thought of, is perhaps if they close either Avenel Kmart, or Jersey City Sears, those are 20 miles apart, so that MIGHT work, to transfer stuff, but they are different brands, and both brands don't sell exactly the same merchandise, so they probably wouldn't go that route.

But anyway, if a store does go that route, there will be a job listing, for "fixture removal", or some such, so that would be our verification of the closing, as in Massapequa, Bronx, & Astor Place. In all other cases, of course, the easiest proof is SB360's site. If it's liquidating, it'll be on there.

So all the closing stores are listed on SB360 except all the ones that weren’t!

Ok, and OP mentioned the exceptions with the caveat that they weren't liquidated.

However, as already pointed out here, some stores have abruptly closed without going through SB360 liquidation: Bronx Kmart, Manhattan Kmart, Massapequa Sears. (I think those are the only ones so far.)

Those 1000's of stores are in the past. OP is referring to the current situation. If it is not on SB, it isn't currently liquidating. Full stop.

What about the 1000’s of stores 360 didn’t liquidate that are closed?

Automotive centers are a separate division and do their own liquidations. When we closed the Ventura CA Auto center we did it all on our own. Once we closed the Auto center we were transferred to the closing Ventura Sears store, had our positions changed to store support, and our payroll transferred to the store. We did maintain our benefits from the Auto center.

Agree completely that the auto centers aren’t liquidated through SB360. No issue with that statement whatsoever. However, your false information lies in the fact that Thornton, CO had two full time job openings listed currently. Look it up. I’m waiting...

And I've never seen store-closing job ads for auto centers either.

A couple of months ago, Sears removed all of the auto centers (including those still open) from its store locator.

Automotive center closings won't be using a third party liquidation company. Confirmed this morning with the manager at my nearby Sears that all automotive stores are closing by end of November.

@wsa+1dgxEWfB Correct, Raleigh closed yesterday, so sb360 will be removing it from their list very soon. Everything else on their list ends Nov. 14, except Marshall which ends Nov. 21.
By Nov. 22, Morning, we will have flushed out the entire SB list, unless more are added.

I believe Raleigh, NC, which is still on SB360's list, has finished liquidating and closed.

Right on. And then some idi0t will ask "is it going been confirmed?", in broken English. Keep it simple, stupid. Either it's on the sb360 page (and liquidating) or it's not on the sb360 page (and not liquidating). Unless it's linked, it ain't closing. The end.
