Thread regarding 2U Inc. layoffs

Sigh

I still have Chip on my Facebook. He looks happier than ever; posting pics from Dubai. He has not a care in the world.

I remember when he cried talking about having to lay people off at one of his last companies. He said it was the hardest thing he ever had to do.

It really doesn't seem to be bothering him whilst he's on stage touting his new Pro Athlete 'thing'.

Get over this sh-t already. Chip is a douche, everyone knows it and we all agree. He’s gonna keep doing douche bag things, it would be more surprising if he didn’t. So accept it and move on. Sc--w that loser. Dina a job at a different company and delete him from your fb. He doesn’t give two sh--s that you see his posts but you do. Turn that sh-t around already. Chip is a loser and sc--wed us all over. Don’t give him any more time.

@3ejr+1r6I4hcX Chip deserves to be sued for every penny to help all the people he scammed and out out of work. Sadly that's not how our society works. He gets his golden parachute and the rest of us get to fight with the unemployment office.

@2ecj+1r6I4hcX I saw the same rehearsed skits again and again.

Now he's in the damn Maldives; Globe-trotting with all of that money we helped him acquire.

So much overtime, stress, and so many tears shed. At one point, I worked almost the entirety of a month with no days off - all whilst being horribly micromanaged, belittled, and demeaned. I feel foolish for ever being so blind, that I was conned by booze, company travel, and free La Croix. But, at least now, I am pretty certain I'm less likely to end up in cult. I mean since I sort of did once already.

Chip is a conman. I saw more than one “Chip chat” and it was the same rehearsed skit where he pretended to care about his employees while literally crying about layoffs being the “hardest thing he’s ever done”. After I saw his (Oscar worthy) performance a second time, I knew he couldn’t be trusted and I felt differently about the company moving forward. Such a huge advantage he had employing young people - we were easier to manipulate with some fake tears and booze. Lessons learned.

Chip made like $60M with 2U? Don't think he can do the same conning testosterone-laden guys with PCS? How is this not a future episode of American Greed or a big piece in Sports Illustrated or ESPN? An amazing story. Hooked on Phonics, 2U and conning elite universities and working folks, Dubai, premium tickets with the Dolphins, conning world-class athletes?

I think it's hilarious what an obvious loser the pro athlete thing is. I'm not a business genius or anything but businesses that are started because the founder thinks it's cool and not because of a real need fail EVERY TIME. The pro athlete deal is clearly "wouldn't it be cool to have a business where I can talk to awesome athletes all day" and not "this is going to make a lot of money." It's very Chip.

Rrrrriiigggghhhttt!??!?!

If I didn't know any better, I'd assume the comment was made by none other than chippy, himself.

But he's waaaaaaaayyyy too busy to hop on this site, even to chastise others, isn't he?!

The amount of headspace you all let this company occupy is pathetic. Get on with your lives. Update your linkedin, update your resume. This company is irrelevant - it's like throwing rocks at a log. It can't feel anything and your arm's getting tired.

I still find it interesting that one of the reasons they put a limit on UPTO was because some employees were using it to go work at 2nd jobs, but it was fine for Chip to start up an entire second company while still being CEO at 2U. He knew this was coming for a long time and still cut into his employees benefits, employees that probably gave up 2nd jobs to keep 2U and then got laid off later.

(I'm not saying it's cool to use PTO at one job to go work at another, I'm just pointing out the hypocrisy)

Post ID: @qhb+1r6I4hcX, no doubt that you're one of the ( if not The) main characters who caused the Drama Trauma, otherwise known as the 2u experience!

"If there's a smile on my face, that's only there tryin to fool the public,
but when it comes down to foolin (2)U, well honey that's quite a different subject-
But don't let my glad expression
Give (2)U the wrong impression...
Really I'm sad, I'm sadder than sad...

His entire presentation seems to have always been to put on a front, and now-a-days, that's literally his job 1.

I don't care where in the entire world he posts pictures from with that big grin on his face, the trail of destruction is all I see - and that's the sad, sad truth!

Someone needs to talk to Sports Illustrated or Dave Zirin about Chip and his behavior. How many people is he going to ruin in his next adventure? And will you be ok if that happens?

Fake crocodile tears. The guy could win an academy award. Pi---s me off to see him like he doesn’t have a care in the world. Well of course he doesn’t. He walked away with millions and $27,000 a month for “consulting fees”! Yeah consulting with his old guard in fancy restaurants and stating every time that relationship matters on his posts. No one should be surprised. Guys like him just move on and don’t look back.
