Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

I just got my NRE status confirmed. Let the fun begin.

I was told by my old supervisor that I would be NRE for the next three years. My new supervisor is clueless and did not even know what NRE meant. The HR rep was clueless as well. They told me I was not that I needed 15 years in and age 52. I told them with 12 years in and age 52 I was NRE.
I found and saved the screen shot of the PIP and NRE information. So finally they found the information and confirmed my status. In was told if I was NSI I would be put on a counseling plan and did even have to participate if I did not want to.
It was like the HR person did not want me to know. My new supervisor' s mood has changed. Before they were threatening me with out the door if I did not step it up. Now there is just a look of worry and te---r on their face. It is priceless. Now they know the true position they are in with me. They have no control over me and cannot intimidate me. i could truly do nothing for the next 3 years and still retire. I am almost guaranteed a retirement. I found out what can get me fired which is dr-gs, g-ns, fighting, racist remarks, alcohol. I am like a wild dog now free and soon will be out the door. i was planning to learn auto cad and solid works to do more drawings for the group In am in but now am not. I am an old dog who cant learn any new tricks. My lack of a raise also says I am substandard so I shall be substandard.

I remember back when the PIPwas applied to recent hires only. It was a tool to get persons proven to be poor choices out of EM. Around 2014 was the first time PIP used across the whole workforce. That first year of massive PIPs there was a quota of exits so persons that fully completed their improvement plan were fired anyway.
Management announced that EM would never ramp up the employee workforce again and that peaks in workload would be managed by hiring contract staff. Then in 2018-2019 EM Executives decided to hire 5000+ new employees for a planned peak workload. Then in 2020 another big layoff after Darren announced no layoff. All those executives that broke their promise not to ramp up employees got big bonuses for successful ramp up then got big bonuses for successful layoffs.
Now the PIP combined with favoritism and HiPo sponsorship have destroyed EM’s culture and our Executives cover up the root causes.

I know workers that are not NRE and young that act like they are protected. There are the chosen protected class. So I guess it is either unprotected, Old NRE, or hipo protected favorite and protected no mater what. I need a protected class. Maybe I can try Trans as there are not any I see. So if you see me dressed in daisy duke's make up on my hairy face blonde wig you will know why. I will make a pretty woman out of myself. Don't hate me cause I am beautiful. It will be like puting lipstick on a pig an ugly pig at that. I don't want you pervert excutive staring at my beauty and pinching my as s. Not without paying me first.

I like this NRE thing more employees should know about this protection. I sounds wonderful. No worries. It could make some employees hard to control. It could create monsters. The years of fear gone and no piping for the managers to use as threats. I bet you would even need to fill out your pds much. No stress at the end thinks of it. Sounds wonderful.

@3nfi+1vXyoiQ1Not true anymore dude. Just not true. This is the new ExxonMobil. NRE do get PIPed these days. And once you're PIPed you can be laid off due to lack of performance. Your information is outdated.

There is no reason to rank me high. Exxon knows I am not leaving until a certain age. How many 60 year old's get outstanding? Not many I have talked to. Only the protected get ranked high so for me and the other serfs, undesirables and dregs of the company there is no hope. The supervisors just want to try to intimidate me and the others to work like dogs at our end. I cant even get a raise much less RSUs. Come exxon tool try your tactics on the young and foolish. I know the game because of what has happened to the ones before myself. It happened to them, it will happen to me and it will happen to you to. Remember that. Oh please master exxon award me some RSUs or at least a raise. I have made my RSUs out side of exxon. Take your threats and RSUs and stick them up your ar-e. I don't need no stinking RSUs.

“To get RSUs you have to be outstanding with distinction.“

Nope. You’re just dead wrong. CL 28/29 gets 200 RSUs each year at Very Good. There is a price to pay for not performing at the end of your career.

Did you really think they didn’t think of that?

Exxon is careful to pip across the board as to not focus on one particular group. I have all ages, colors, religions, and s-xes piped. There are careful to not pip you to often as well. This would show a bias to you. One person I knew was piped and then did not change their work habits. They were piped 4 years later. I don't know of anyone who was piped consecutive years.

There is no pip as NRE. There is only employee counseling. Go scare the young ones with mortgages and fancy cars. With NRE you are almost guaranteed a retirement. Get educated.

NRE doesn't mean di-k these days. You can still fail the PIP so watch out. Keep your mouth shut or you might end up at La Quinta.

It would be interesting to see the percent of people PIPd under 50 vs over 50. EM drops ranking of non sponsored people at 50, and this is well known. I have heard statements like in ranking meetings like: “those RG points should go to the younger guys with a career ahead of them”, “he is just coasting to retirement and the drop will not affect him”,,,,

I am classy just like the exxon supervisors, managers, ceos, cfos. Shi t begets shi t. I am a victim of circumstance. I was not born unclassy I became one through years of abuse. I learned their ways and adapted to survive. If you are working with unclassy slimy people out will become the same as them. So exxon has created me over 25 years. So this no class millionaire will leave soon and will not have to deal with the most lovely people on earth. You have to give respect to recieve it. Excon has not given me a shred of respect, decency or fairness in my 25 years.
Ok so excuse me if I have an attitude.

I may be a clown but I am a rich clown who can leave at 55. Next I will be some other companies clown if I chose or my own clown in my own circus (personal business). I have no worries. I would post names but the admins keep taking them down. I am not afraid I welcome Exxon to fire me if they dare. Remember what exxon values most of all no bad publicity and reputation. I was in the training and know the fears of this company. So if you supervisors have enough guts fire an oldie make their lawyers day. Give them a big payday.

@2eaf+1vXyoiQ1 come up for air once in awhile when you are under the bosses desk remember to breathe. Keep up the good work ki ssing corporate a ss. We will know you by the shi t smell from your mouth and the sl--e trail you leave.

I am inspired by your post at least the safety of NRE and almost guarantee of retirement. I will probably not do much in my NRE years but will not act up. I noticed a 30 year employee that just floats around, sleeps their desk and doesn't do much work or really care. The take off anytime they want and don't care about deadlines or priorities. This person is like a ghost they disappear for hours at a time and just show up every so often. I now know why they are tolerated. They are NRE and protected. This person just left till the end of the year and did not coordinate for a backfill. They just don't give a f uc. Funny thing is if you ask the "special ed" employee when they want retire they say when they are 70. They are truly clueless but ignorance is bliss.

To get RSUs you have to be outstanding with distinction. The only ones I know of that get these are the bootlickers and hipos. There was a new guy who made one simple improvement on a system and got RSUs. I made over ten to his one and was ranked good. There is no reason to waste any praise or high ranking on me. I am the old worthless in exxon's eyes. They want to groom the young. The young get all the praise and treats. They did not even give me a raise this year much less RSUs. Keep your corporate BS management as you cannot control me. I have enough money to retire comfortably and have some jobs lined up away from exxon. I just need to pull the trigger. Exxon f-c ked me around in my early days and now it is time for payback. I do this to balance the universe. There is no animosity from me but it must be done. I also do it for all the others that were f-c ked over by exxon. The ones that worked hard but did not get recognized. The ones that got their lives ruined. I have seen grown men cry at this horrible place. Exxon can truly be evil. Fight injustice and tyranny. If you know me I am not one to be fu cked with. I never forget and revenge is in my blood. Fight evil with evil. I told one supervisor if I am going down I am taking you with me. The supervisor left me alone after this and transfered shortly after. If the dragon swallows me I am going to kick and tear at it's throat on the way down. You may ask why I am this way it is because I know all the past evils of exxon. I know not just my treatment but the past injustices of others. Grown men crying begging for their jobs picture it.

I get that people want to be real in those three years of NRE, but if you’re mid ranked or better, your behavior could well cost you 200 RSUs per year. That’s some expensive acting out.

I was NRE for three years. I was ready to retire but had to wait till 55. i had some fun for those 3 years. I was able to speak up and tell the managers what was wrong withg the projects. I was able to tell the truth in meetings and challenge the bosses. Some employees do this and they are applauded for courage of conviction. I was not and was told to tone it down. My ranking dropped of course and employees would avoid me. It was worth it to see the looks on the managers. The fact that someone would ' challenge their insane ideas shocked them. I overheard a conversation about myself and what was said was " who does he think he is and isn t he worried about getting piped to which the other said he is NRE and protected exxon would not dare fire him at this point. I was constantly asked when I was going to retire and responded never that I liked exxon and wanted to stay forever. The looks on their faces was hilarious. I continued being a pain in the a-s for them being careful not to cross the line. My supervisor ignored me and avoided me which I enjoyed. The supervisor was a worried micromanager who tried to intimidate and control me. They were younger than myself and did not know anything about upstream. I played it up right until I sent resignation letter. Funny thing was I never was ranked below NI always good. Even at 56 they ranked me as good. I sent the letter the day I left resigning on that day. I had all my retirement ready and had a job lined up for the transition. I did not even say goodbye to any of my good friends snakes at exxon. I just vanished like a ghost. So advertise it on your shirt if you want and tell them off. What can and will they do nothing. After 55 though pip is coming. Have fun whatever you do and don t let these agents of exxon intimidate you. Hit them for me. If you ask why I did it then it was for the ones before and like me that were unfairly targeted with complaints and criticism while others were praised for doing nothing. The injustice is the driver to all the ills at exxon.

Decency for an indecent company. I think not. Think of that when you are targeted and piped for no reason other than they favor the others over you. when you are old and told you cannot compete with the young ones. When you don t fit in the popular club. when you don t have the color, religion or face of exxon.

I have documentation that I do not have to participate in the employee counseling plan direct from HR. My record is exemplary at exxon with many patents and improvements. The plan states it is not needed to complete it. It is simply requested that you comply. I think I have suffered enough and given enough to this horrible place. So if you want to play their unfair game and lay down go ahead. I sounds like the supervisors, managers and HIPOS are posting compliance to the board. EXXON YOU CANNOT CONTROL ME. I AM INDEPENDANTLY WEALTH YOUR WORST NIGHTMARE AND I KNOW THE TRUTH. I DO IT FOR ALL THE UNFAIRLY PIPED, TARGETED, ISOLATED AND MARGINALIZED. FU CK YOU EX ON.

I would be careful with the NRE status. I believe you still have to play the game if NSI. If you don’t go thru the motions they can fire you.

Folks like you would make Exxon think risking lawsuit instead of carrying dead weights like you.
Don’t gloat and advertise your desire to do nothing. You still get paid a large base salary, have some common decency and work to earn it.

Just make sure to confirmation from HR before you start slacking. I know someone who was piped at 51. They passed the pip as I think exxon did not want to risk a lawsuit. There was some piped at 50 as well. Both of these people did not deserve the pip as there were employees that were worse than them. One was just disliked by a supervisor and the supervisor got revenge by piping them.

Congratulations!

Your Supervisor was just upset because you narrowed down his choices on PIP persons.

Just be careful not to break any major rules and you are safe until 55.

Based on the NRE rules, someone that started at EM just over 37 years old would be NRE at 49 with 12 years of service then at 52 get continuation of NRE until 55.

Up to 6 years of PIP immunity.

Sadly I know a great employee that was let go 4 months before he would have become NRE.
