Thread regarding BNSF Railway layoffs

BNSF Layoffs!

With this recent round of huge layoffs, we really need to get a US government review or even EEOC investigation to why nearly all the VP, AVP, Directors are predominantly Indian citizens (with US visas or green card citizenship). For being a critical American infrastructure company, it seems rather brazen that many of the director levels are foreign born Indian, which is a top rival of US economy.

I think the TY&E voted down there last contract, and the union officers of the UTU took it to expedited arbitration and forced it on the members, the laborers union voted down their contract and still had theirs forced on them because the union president rubber stamped it for the company prior to retiring, and the IAM and IBEW had the company tell them that laborers could perform quality maintenance inspections resulting in lost jobs on service racks nationwide, exactly what representation is being spoken of, if it’s in an investigation, I’ve seen union representatives throw their own members under the bus to local management for the potential for favorable jobs not being abolished. It seems like a local su-k a-s is on here mad bc he didn’t like seeing the truth

That ain’t no sh-t, seen an employee have to file a lawsuit with his own money wait two years to get his job back with back pay, union representation didn’t mean nothing, company went after them for following a physicians order, company lost in court. Company fired employee despite all evidence in investigation showing the employee was in the right. Union representation didn’t amount to a hill of beans in arbitration or the investigation, took a personal lawsuit. That’s what it’s come to these days.

No one is represented anymore, the only thing anyone says if someone goes to investigation is the company is going to do what the company is going to do. An employee can be 100% in the right and still be punished or fired, that’s not gibberish, that’s fact. Only an egotistical local will think otherwise to hold onto what power they think they have.

Just food for thought, you should really do some more research into your gibberish. Because most of our contracts say you must be a member of the union alls your doing is withholding a very small portion of your pay. The GL, district and local still get your money ad you loose all voting rights or say on what goes on. What you end up paying is a representation fee.

If all employees wrote to hr and said stop withdrawing union dues in at will states, you think the Unions might listen and consider working for the employees again, I mean BNSF has 35000 employees, Supreme Court ruled union membership can no longer be utilized as a terms of employment in Janus vs AFSCME so. If the company and the unions won’t listen, then why argue with either. I mean they are up in Washington this week having a million dollar parties and dinners, when was the last time workers were fed like that or treated like that.

I worked for a company that had a semiprivate plan to reduce US workers in favor of H1-B imports. Cost savings expected of 35-50%.

I quietly provided this plan and proof that it was underway to the US Department of Labor.
They did a 2 minute look at said there was no violation of any regulations. (Obama era - he increased H1-B allocations like 600%).

The moral to the story is our government makes this possible, 95% of the roles filled by H1-B holders can be filled by US citizens but not at the same cost. It’s not a skills shortage- which is what the work visa programs are intended, it’s a money grab for offshore companies and cost avoidance for the US corporations.

I’ll close with I’m sorry so many PEOPLE were released. I’m sure I’ll be cut in the next 2-6 months.

Best of luck to all.

It is super suspect that Hari Govind, the head guy for Geico insurance, owned by Berkshire Hathaway, would come over after questions being raised about BNSF insurance fraud and embezzlement due to BNSF claiming losses under conditions they created to maximize insurance payouts, that in turn went to corporate bonuses, while claiming they needed to reallocate resources and people. It seems extremely suspect that person of the nations largest insurance carrier, owned by Berkshire Hathaway, and over saw payout of those “losses” would then be brought in to axe people in the IT department who would have access to the files and information that would expose that BNSF committed fraud and funneled/embezzled that money into those like Katie Farmer and Matt Igoe and paid off union officials, while they secured employment at other major companies like American Airlines.

It’s just like the embezzlement that BNSF committed with Houston. BNSF reallocated equipment including million dollar projects to Houston knowing they were shutting it down. This includes drop pits, tooling, and large portions of unused equipment to Houston prior to hurricane season. With the reduction in force and closing of Houston mechanical facility already in the works when Silsbee mechanical was shutdown. BNSF relocated equipment, computer systems, and building materials to Houston under the umbrella of Warren Buffett who owns one of the nations largest insurance companies and thousands of underwriters. Waited for a hurricane to hit, Harvey , then claimed losses on the equities they put there as a way to claim insurance losses, offset business losses through tax fraud by claiming the losses they facilitated, then embezzled the funds in the form of corporate bonuses, while closing a facility they had already determined was going to be closed prior to the “build up” in the name of reallocation resources for the benefit of the company, despite the majority of rail traffic coming through the port of Houston. Temple is being utilized in the exact same manner, shop building up to include new cranes, pits, etc while a pre determined plan to shut the mechanical facility down is already in place, first major weather event to hit shop directly will be utilized to claim insurance losses, tax losses, and temple will be shut down, with the funds embezzled into corporate bonuses.

It's railroad week in Washington DC. All the execs and union bosses are out partying with the politicians using your union dues.

BNSF is doing this across all levels, contracting and bringing in foreign labor to force out veteran employees, the company has determined that unions and long term contracts are no longer in the best interest of the company, and because of no legal ramifications based on judge shopping and an unwillingness of union leadership to fight in court, their is no longer a check on BNSF as a whole to monopolize and utilize cheaper foreign labor to maximize short term profits. The ability to walk off the job and strike is no longer viable, and courts have shown an unwillingness to curb the behavior so ultimately railroad employees are going to be subject to foreign markets and investments, with no legal way to maintain employment.

Call em, you’ll soon find out they don’t care either, they simply protect the company from a lawsuit, you have no leg to stand on, and it’s good that my management position and its future is secure based on the money saved by cutting the waste that can only be described as those who were cut. If you think EEO or labor relations will help you, call them, I wish I could see your faces when you find out that they won’t. Long story short, you earned being cut, and thank you for securing my future as a leader at BNSF.

Quit whining. You got cut today because you aren’t good enough and are no longer useful in technology. The future of BNSF is as bright as it has ever been.
