Thread regarding Sungard Availability Services layoffs

Are we done with November cuts?

Are we sure everybody has been notified and there'll be no more cuts next week? Do we even have any idea how many were let go in this round and what departments were hit other than IT? There just seems to be so little information available that I can't help but still feel nervous about it.

Yes it is going to get out of hand. The only reason layoffs haven't happened is they are adding to the list.

I'd say not... DCO asked to pick names for the list last week again... So now we're going to have managers and dirs filling regular shifts because there won't be enough of us left to cover 24 by 7 at most sites from what i see... Now holiday season, and despite being told officially that we can carry 40 hours over this year, unofficially we're being told to zero out our balances... I may just rack servers but I'm not an imbecile...

Revenue has gone from $1.4 billion to $700 million in 3 years. And this was prepandemic !
As long as this continues, the correction of OpEx/headcount will just be part of everyday life, as it has been.

We have thanksgiving next week, shortly after which the holiday season hammer will drop.
It’s unfortunate but the truth is that this company will have to keep on doing this until it’s inevitable demise.

Company has been circling the drain for years now, lower and lower. Sr. Management is only out for themselves, people such as H.G. will throw anyone under the bus to save themselves.
CEO is trying but cant seem to right the ship that was already halfway under water when he joined.

There are better companies out there, if you haven't begun looking you are just fooling yourselves. Look at the revenue loss over the past 5-6 years its incredible, and always on a downward trend. While it wont disappear tomorrow it is inevitable that it will fade away.

Done for the year? Hilarious.

It’s almost the holiday season - prime time for SunGard to cut staff again

@2dtt+17NSYbR0 - unsure if this is sarcasm or not :-). Anything with this glorious new private cloud offering will be handled by Dell so no SG staff needed.

The hatchet man is coming and the word is the sickle is swinging low... I hope they start handing out blindfolds and c-gare–es when the packages run out.

Why so many cuts when we've got all those new private cloud deals coming in?

Done ? Nowhere near. This is the calm before the holiday cull. Thanksgiving to Christmas is the one to watch out for. Cooking the books before the end of year so the bonuses can be paid out to the higher ups. DCO/RSOPS/SALES all on the menu. Names are already on the list. It’s just a matter of time and if they can justify moving some more undecided names into ‘time for you to leave’ list. Order of magnitude will be determined by just how many deals are lost or roll over to 2021 in the next 4 weeks. Good luck.

Done? Not even close. Nov into Dec DCO and RSOPS are soon may stretch into Dec. Bigger now then expected. Adding names may delay layoffs.

'SunGard never announces who’s been laid off.'

This is a sad truth. Transparency is nil. You'll find out who's gone when you try to email them and the address doesn't resolve. Otherwise it's word of mouth.

Is there still a Product team in RS OPS

Sungard AS is known to cut positions in mid-to-late December just before Christmas in case you did not know...

Does wonders for employee moral!

You must be very new. SunGard never announces who’s been laid off. It’s word of mouth or you find out when you no longer receive a response to Emails. They’re spineless
Nobody knows when it’s over. If I had to guess there will be more on thanksgiving and Xmas.
