She sure does sound like a narcissist in the end. She's gotten a big promotion at a bank but hardly understands the work that is done as she has hung around HR the entire time but somehow, she actually influences the decision making which is insane.
I'm someone 'offshore' that takes your jobs and I think you have every right to be mad. We're remote here as well and quality of the work is 50x worse, no shame in admitting it. They want us because we're cheap, nothing else.
ID: @1jdm+1uGWaXiS……. really? Do you not think the offshore people aren’t working from home. So maybe the complaints or as you call it “whining”, are justified since the offshore teammates are remote. Why afford that to those teammates but not to others and those who have been with the company for years. When you are in a role that is listed as hybrid (don’t remember what they call it now) but they really don’t allow it until it suits them, for early morning calls or whatever they need, just doesn’t sit right. I was much more productive with a few home office days a month and I can guarantee teammates had a much better work life balance they preach about.
I left several months ago and have a few observations:
- The Charlotte office is messed up. I’ve never worked in such uncomfortable work place. Everyone seems deeply unhappy and it’s just awkward.
- You can still be connected remote. I didn’t have that at Truist, however I did both before and again now. Don’t they have a leadership institute? Because if Truist leaders go to it… they should get their money back.
The whole culture has turned rotten, and that comes from the top and filters to leaders at all levels.
Good luck to you all. It was hard to leave for many reasons but I am couch happier away from there.
Got of love remote work argument but I bet they are all out at concerts dinner etc
Pretty sure the following was more sarcastic
@1zjd+1uGWaXiS and your comment "Why people literally die of loneliness? Why we started going into offices and designated work locations to begin with? Because humans are social animals and the benefit of spontaneous thought and deliberation is a real thing"
I also can not stand when some executive thinks they know me better than me saying things like you need this social interaction...we are doing you a favor. I am social, I just prefer to do it in a non-office setting. When in the office I am less social outside of it as I am drained.
If you really want to throw up read this about our CTO. Morale is not a problem:

The CEOs demanding RTO probably all have these things in common too
- Private office
- Private clean bathroom
- Free and primo parking
- Free meals that are fetched for them in a fancy dining room
- Unlimited sick days for when your colleague comes in and coughs on you
- Free Black car service, picked up right outside the free jet
I’m sure this office setup is fantastic for those eligible

Well... this Wells Fargo employee was forced to RTO, died in her cube and was not found until 4 days later.... So much for your agrument about the benefit of spontaneous thought and deliberation, in office collaboration. Get a clue.

Self-edit: “native” should be “nap time”. Auto correct is frustrating in the office AND remote!
Question for the beach house boss: you have to swipe OUT of a building? In my office we swipe in, but there’s no security threat to leaving a building so most places don’t require a swipe to exit?
The author of that article might want to take a course or two on capitalism, macro economics, and maybe banking. Clue for the author: they’re not ALL id--ts and greedy ogres. And if being in an “office culture” is as bad as the author derides it, explain why remote learning has left our grammar school standards in shambles? Why people literally die of loneliness? Why we started going into offices and designated work locations to begin with? Because humans are social animals and the benefit of spontaneous thought and deliberation is a real thing. It’s too bad that you think your boss’s request of you is banal or trivial and he/she should just have to wait til your native is over (seriously; read the article). I give you money when you expect it; you give me work when I need it. Fair trade.
@1jdm+1uGWaXiS
It's official, this is the d-mbest comment I have ever read on this site. Congratulations
“The merger was done while we were all remote” and “the lie of productivity being down when people work remotely” as though these are arguments for remote work. This entire chat room exists because of how whacked the merger and new company are being run. So maybe remote ain’t all that. I also wonder if the same people who want to work in sweats and hoodies from home are the ones complaining about jobs being sent to India. Hey, if you’re all about remote work and productivity, hard to argue against sending jobs to India. Can’t get much more remote than that. Bring the downvotes, but consider the irony of wanting to stay home and then whining about offshoring.

What office will people return to? The office without the job they shipped to India?
Knuck if you buck
I love that our manager is working from her beach house and tells us that our badges will be monitored swiping in and out of the building.
If it's truly about real estate though, what difference does it make if I'm in 2-3 days vs. 4-5? I'm still going in... Why not just let people alternate their schedules with others, coming in half the week? Then the building still has people...the restaurants/merchants around it still have customers, etc.
Good article. Like how it calls out the lie that productiviity is down when people work remotely.
BB&T and SunTrust MERGED to become Truist DURING the pandemic. 90 percent of employees were working remotely and all that hard work was done to complete the merger all while remote.
While there is nothing you could tell me to agree with the 4 day 'flexible' schedule...I would at least respect them if they said this is why other than things like culture and you will just love being back in the office because of reasons.
