Thread regarding VMware layoffs

Ex-Aws Guy & Broadcom

Does anyone know what happened with this story? Did everything work out in the end? Do you think Broadcom will keep him on?

@2mvg+1j0OXOp0 I mean as we are told numerous times this was the largest PEP cycle ever. Pay no mind to the fact that the average raise across the board was 6% hardly a large increase for many.

Hope he got a raise with his new role.

Is anyone aware of someone getting fired from VMware? I’ve seen a great deal of incompetence of folks not meeting very specific goals within the Tanzu org and they just miss deadlines, and redefine objectives. No consequences for what would easily be an off-ramp from the company in every other company I’ve worked for.

When people make the posts here “why do y’all h*te VMware or what did VMware do wrong…”… this case in top 3 of organizations failures.

Promise from Pattellly - “he will never have directs”.

Craig leaves. Guy is promoted. Gets directs.

Lies. Lies. Lies.

HR - let’s be happy!!

Still here and he got directs when Craig M left. He’s arrogant and not super intelligent.

Work in Tanzu. One of the least intelligent people I met got promoted in less than a year. Guy can't form a complete sentence when he speaks and has a massive ego. Can't stand speaking with him and avoid him at all costs. VMware promotes the loudest, shiniest, and dimwitted peacocks to do the job.

This is the best example of the old boys network I’ve seen in a while. No one from HR was involved. It was a few phone calls and maybe a quick discussion at Starbucks that landed him his job.

Betsy is just a showpiece, no real authority other than to give hugs. How jobs like this exist with that amount of total compensation is morally bankrupt. What a terrible society we have created.

I thought they did an about turn and did not hire the guy? They still took him on? That's a very poor decision. Betsy approve that? Were they worried about litigation if they withdrew the contract? They should have just got him in, no reports, go quiet and drop him after a year with a few dollars. Another sign of the rot.

Or should I say, BS all the way down.

“Raghuram said Burgin would be work in a more limited capacity as an “individual contributor.” His official title will be vice president of product operations and technical strategy. Burgin will report to vice president Craig McLuckie. A VMware spokesperson confirmed the decision.“

From the get go it was a bit off. How is a VP an individual contributor or vice versa? It was clearly a “we’ll keep this on the down low until there are more distractions” play. One would have been naive to think otherwise. A more direct “we’ve done more research into the issues than you” response would have been better, but clearly they’d lost too much trust by that point to pull that off. Their final move there just came off as patronizing.

Christ. If he’s has directs Raghu lied. Waiting until the story died down to do it anyway. The company is so corrupt.

Yes and in the hierarchy you'll find also directors and managers without any report LOL! Maybe they were trying to extend the organization and then suddenly the deal happened?
