I left before the pandemic hit and I recently got an offer to return. I admit, I enjoyed my job at Apache, but the culture had deteriorated drastically by then so I had to get out for my own sake. Have things improved any? Is morale better? I'd appreciate any insight.

To the person that said they’ve been there since 2018… You have no idea what Apache used to be so you have nothing to compare it to. I’m glad you are satisfied with how it is now, but don’t speak for those of us that have been here for many years. Apache isn’t even close to what it used to be.

Working in IT is great. better base bonus and stocks than many other groups. You can just milk them as the company dries up and then move on. I feel bad for you guys in other departments.
The constant head chopping adds stress to employees
So what explanation would you give? I think JC has completely ruined it
Apache is a joke in the Permian Basin.
At industry meetings I get asked what happened to apache?
I’m glad to be gone.

I don’t think boomers would complain much, if they had been with the company long enough they have enjoyed bonuses, sometimes of 3-4 times your salary in a year, that young people will never see.
I would say it is pretty poor. When I first joined, Apache wanted to hire the best and compensated employees so. Through a decent base and good short and long term bonus & stock schemes. Over the last two years in particular these practices and philosophies have been slowly eroded. The new salary structure does not reward experience and industry known how of how to get things done. Bonus are certainly being stripped back as we speak for 2024 and beyond. The office move is not greatly thought off with the workers all in a glass cubicles, at a location in poorly served part of Houston. The long term future feels bleak.
I guess it is better than not having a job. There really is not a lot of pride these days saying you work for APA to your industry peers.
Dear, wise @2dbw+1pJVPj3v, it is telling that there are THIS MANY 'nosey', 'miserable' people working for Apache, no?
I agree with the first post - there is no pride in saying you work for APA.
And, don't forget, our CEO, COO and CFO are on their way to the clink for the lies they told that impacted others tremendously.
Moral is dependent on which department you work for. I worked for a great department manager…never let the negative moral that was generated from the upper management trickle down into our department. Overall moral was neutral trending to sort of positive.
To the below. That’s your opinion. However you are relatively new so keep that in mind. Things have changed in the past decade. Most of the things have been mediocre at best —just like our upcoming move nobody is in favor of
This isn’t the forum to get the feedback. The second 1 person says something positive, a boomer responds with an outrageous reply and tries to pick a battle.
I’ve been here since 2018 and although it has its highs and lows, overall it’s pretty high. People on this site are either nosey and read the drama or miserable and need somewhere to vent.
From all appearances, it’s a sinking ship. So I wouldn’t plan on anything long term. Plus you might get tempted by IC that wouldn’t vest soon enough.
