Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

No-growth company in a fast-growing industry

I'm getting a bit tired of all the discussion around vaccination. Everyone is just talking about vaccinations. I'm more interested in why Intel has become a no-growth company? I remember some of the CEOs ambitious plans for this company. They have not been fulfilled. And there are no signs that they ever will be.

the growth mindset is get more investment from Gov, building more factories/foundries, outsource to TSMC to reduce the volume capacity for competitors and given chance that the shortage from competitors to allow INTC to gain the market with cheaper priced products albeit lower performance

The fact that growth has stalled is beyond question. One might argue that with AMD's growth and ARM based processors in the future, even growing will be a challenge. The big question is what is the growth strategy? Based on how PG is hyping it, he thinks it is IDF2.0. Maybe pivoting to EUV is the answer to Intel's recent manufacturing woes. But what will it build? I don't see any way out unless it can figure out how to significantly improve the processor performance - Intel needs a long range solution here.

@2cjw+1cZMRHxe You are right about the data. Intel growth is abt 8% in 2020.
Compare to AMD 45% and TSMC 25% at the same period
There are growth but relative smaller vs the expected to growth much faster given the fact of investment $$$ that INTC put in

and then there's reality .. "In 2020, Intel's revenue amounted to approximately 77.87 billion U.S. dollars, up from the 71.97 billion U.S. dollars that the company recorded in the previous year. This represents an eight percent increase year-over-year."

When Intel was a leader it could actually talk about growth.

Intel now lags in technology and their products aren’t competitive in any segment. The only reason they sell and make money is because the competition has limited manufacturing capacity, but that is changing as all Foundry’s are spending to put in place capacity that actually can make far superior products. Look at AMD, or any company their sales and profits are exploding while Intel and it’s $illy and $tupid employees run like crazy to fall further and further behind.

Got to give the CEO credit when the Titanic sinks he will be on a hundred million lifeboat sailing off and will have traveled the world collecting frequent flyer miles and handshakes from world leaders, others get their layoff slips.

It’s zero growth because it’s run by village id--ts that care zero for the company nor its employees and shareholders. They just want to employ their cousins/wives and move from one failed project after the next.
