How sweet is it that Union Pacific is the only railroad that investing to bring history to life! Proud to be a part of a company that cares about our American heritage and the future of rail! So many people are being blessed with the hard work and dedication of the steam shop guys and the money poured into the program by the company. Thanks UP!

Big Boy fatigue is real. All the job cuts devastating communities and households, yet this display of a moving hot water heater is being parade around to make it look like UP cares.
@2pk Let me guess- You are writing this comment from your phone while sitting on the pot at work complaining about a company who is actively paying for your lazy a$$. People like you never succeed in life but just find a million ways to complain about how everyone is out to hurt you. Also, you do realize that the railroad used to have thousand more employees back when it first started and grew to over 2 million workers by the 1920s? You think that reducing an unneeded workforce isnt in the cards? You think those people in the 20s, as technology advanced, weren't angry that they were loosing their jobs? Its the same problem different day. You have to be active in your contributions to the rr and stop relying on the union to save your butt. They cant keep your job forever. You have to be smart about where the rr is going and get ahead of it. The minute you stop blaming everyone else is the minute you can start doing something for yourself. But from the sound of your post, you will never get there. It would su-k to even be in your circle listening to you gripe all the time.

Did Jason Cogdal get to push the big boy 4014 from Sparks to Roseville thru the Feather River? He's got to be old as dirt like his father Bobsey, by now.
@27t I think you missed the point dipsh!t. No one at the UP has been riding the easy(not ewasy by the way!)train, but your posting says that you are though. I would love for you to stand in front of the thousands of long-time employees that lost their jobs and preach to them about doing something worthwhile and keeping their jobs. I suppose you could tell them that their job loss was due to something they did wrong and just tell them that it had nothing to do with PSR. I'd recommend that you do it with a personal security team nearby though. I don't think it'll go well for you! NEWS FLASH: Companies need employees that work and when you reduce the number of available employees, then productivity drops. Those employees also need to be able to trust the company they work for. I can assure you that there's very few people that work for the UP that actually trusts the company. The UP culture has been permanently stained by PSR and layoffs. If the UP was so great, then the UP wouldn't have been singled out at the government hearings related to poor service. Oh yeah the UP achieved the first place trophy for worst employer in North America three or four years IN A ROW! That is a phenomenal achievement that no corporation wants! You're cheering for a company that actively lies to it's own employees, ruins livelihoods, and doing it all for shareholder profits. I can't tell you what to do but you might want to consider defending something else. The UP management isn't going to keep you either, and it doesn't matter how much you kiss their a$$ on here!
@27t is that you Jim?
@1cz I think its a great place to work. My checks are still cashing and the work is still coming in. Managers are good to us. I think youve rode on the ewasy train for too long and are finally getting pushed out of your easy job. Companies arent in the business to pay you for minimal work, they are in it for a profit. Contribute something worth while and i promise you, you will keep your job. Stop depending on the union to save your behind. They dont care about you like you think they do. The only person responsible for your employment demise at the RR is you. Until you realize that, you will keep chasing your tail all while blaming the railroad for doing this to you.
Huh? Is this post real or is it meant to be sarcasm? You're proud to a part of a company that cares about the American heritage and the future of rail? Do you think that the thousands of people that lost their jobs because of Vena feel the same sentiment that you do? The American heritage wasn't formed because of layoffs by the way. The future of rail is going to a massive hit if the UP and the other class 1's don't start investing real money into it's employee base. The UP and the rest of the RR' have a lot of long-time who are fed up with the games. The steamer is the only thing that the UP owns that still wows anyone. The UP doesn't have anything else. The true employees of the UP see the UP for what it really is. I'd strongly consider that you open your eyes a bit wider so you can see how broken the UP actually is. The UP is not a great place to work and the executives are only making it worse.
If only Union Pacific put as much time and effort maintaining the rest of the fleet.
@bt sorry not hr but an employee.
Nice try, HR. It's the only positive media coverage the company gets; that's why they use it. The company is here to make money. That's it.
