Thread regarding Medtronic Inc. layoffs

Executive Contribution: Medtronic stock is down 44% over five years versus S&P 500 up 67%;

That tells you a lot about the 'executive' ability of the lineup that steers this ship.

@1py if this is true there is evidence that crimes are being committed, it should be reported. Whether it’s financial crimes or regulatory crimes, it all comes back to impacting patient safety.

@ff so sorry this happened to you. It’s disgusting how these fads are affecting skilled workers who gave years of high-performance to MDT to be subject to RIF just short of their retirement date.

These employees are hurt the most as they will not likely be picked up by another company in a similar role at a commensurate income level and they lose their retirement benefits. GM makes millions every year. His performance is measured by stock performance, showing he is FAILING at his job, but the board does nothing about it. The rest of us are lucky to make one year of his income in our lifetime.

The employees close to retirement impacted by RIF don’t have time to make up the loss and under 65 healthcare is a necessity that can easily cost 10x employer coverage once COBRA expires and before Medicare eligibility.

There should be a place for skilled workers at Medtronic who have demonstrated years of high-performance,regardless of where they’re physically located. This is shortsighted laziness by leaders who don’t want to work that hard to develop a well planned, transparent strategy with a solid vision. They won’t be around long enough to feel the consequences of their decisions. GM is not looking to build a sustainable Medtronic. He’s looking out for himself and short term ignoring the long-term harm to Medtronic.

@1ps nothing will happen here everything at this company lands on deaf ears unless these executives are not indicted and locked up for white collar crime which there is plenty of track record of Medtronic board will not do anything

This garbage company and its garbage m&a under existing leadership has destroyed it if this company and its incompetent corporate development under an even more incompetent leadership and board can evaluate opportunities half as well as its peers maybe be wouldn’t be in this situation they have a bunch of dei id--ts running their business development under GM and skippy who themselves can’t add or subtract or multiply or divide

@18k

A sign of intelligence is blaming on a made up issue like DEI for Medtronic's failings.

@17v The sign of a great argument is the one that attacks character and not substance. NOT!!!!! Please stop pouting!

I am looking to devest from MDT regardless of the future story. Medtronic (MDT) Total Return compared to Treasury notes total return has been less for the last 10 years !

@pm DEI is part of the problem. It is an infection and makes the host weaker. I have documented VPs saying they don't have to be the best they just have to "check the right boxes" and be "good enough" or "assumed to be trainable". I have video of this right out the mouths of these VPs and HR which had increasing this as a metric. It was on everyone goals. It is and was illegal! But even worse it makes the company less competitive. The WHITE dudes you point out at the top, suffer from an -ism too but in their case it GE-ism. They are not innovative thinkers, they are not leaders, they are grifting followers. They follow any corporate fade going on in industry. DEI is vogue lets do DEI. Robots are hot lets do robots. Out sourcing hot, let do out sourcing. Globalization is hot like globalize. Move HQ to another country is hot, lets move to Ireland. This list of fades followed is endlessly long. I want the most qualified. I want innovators. I want leaders. I don't care if they are black, brown, purple, pink or even white. And where they are not, I want them sent packing even at the top.

Our ExCom is nearly all white dudes, and people think DEI is to blame for our sh---y performance??? No wonder the company is in the sh----r. Employees can't even make the most basic of correlations.

Is DEI the only thing you can think about? You are so gullible

Geof Martha is the worst, most woke-focused lame duck CEO Medtronic has ever had. Bringing on DEI wokesters like Sally Saba to highly visible positions while suppressing leaders who want to drive technical innovation and speed to market is why we are here.

I got the latest RIF in Santa Rosa just over a year from my retirement date, so a big ‘Thank you’ to MDT for my severance/ early retirement gift, and getting to see how off track this company has been for years and for the first time from the outside.

Aren't the shareholders getting pi---d off with these abysmal results.
You'd think there would be some kind of uprising. Obviously this is what triggered Elliott to get involved.
I guess as long as MDT is helping at least a few patients, it's good enough?!?
