@2d2 there’s a new one who started on the same day as the December ES. You might be thinking of the old rep - she was a cranky one.
That’s simply not true. There was no viewing party in my office. If one took place in yours, it would have been an employee-led choice, not a company-wide directive.
@2d2 She’s probably the one hot rep at Cengage. My guess is she’s the only female rep not angry, bitter and considering dying her hair blue.
@24q I met the liberty rep at a sales meeting and she was a nut and fit right at Liberty
@2a3 If you’re talking about the Foster City, CA office, I don’t recall the viewing being mandatory.
Cengage is private equity owned. Their PR engine appeals to liberal values because that is what is palatable to the majority of employees and the market. But that’s all just smoke and mirrors for public perception. The company itself is happy to profit off any market available, including the alt right Conservative Evangelical market.
Actual employees don’t enjoy the obligation of working with Liberty, but they bear it because the choice is comply or quit. And many know they don’t have better options right now.
My favorite is all the libs at Cengage bowing down to Liberty U. So rich. Anything for a buck!
Credibility is lost, and employees should be miffed.
If I was still there, I'd be hanging anti-Trump flair all over my cube.
"It was such an obvious scam the federal government shut down the industry entirely."
I think UAGC, SNHU, University of Phoenix, Liberty U and Grand Canyon are still the largest customer bases of Cengage.
Cengage used to be a huge player in the predatory for-profit college industry. We had a huge presence at their annual conference where school admins would openly talk about how they could bilk poor people who would pay $60,000 for a veteranary technician degree that paid $12/hour. It was such an obvious scam the federal government shut down the industry entirely. Cengage will go wherever they can make a buck. They don't actually care about whether or not students get an education...only if they buy a textbook or subscription.
An “education” company cozying up to an anti education administration is very odd.
This sounds like desperation.
