Business Excellence, flavor of the day

Has anyone noticed that this business excellence BS is just another flavor of the month initiative that literally teaches us nothing new. Old concepts that have been around for an eternity such as DMAIC , 5whys, 6 sigma concepts wrapped with a different bow and labeled business excellence. What’s even more disturbing is the amount of directors , senior directors and vp level that have been hired to run this gimmick around the world . No wonder the company is falling apart .. no wonder our stock is tanking .. poor leadership, poor director, bad culture and lack of execution. When the entire c suite runs out it’s more than a red flag it’s a burning flag .. penny pinch the poor little guys and the manufacturing sites.. choke them to death with your kaizen nonsense and keep streamlining processes to death until quality is non existent and complaints begin to skyrocket and patients die with our products oh wait that already happened.. complaints started to climb up thanks to the cut cut cut cut cut to maximize gross profit. Tom get out and take all the incompetent leaders with you cause there are lots of them. Also take the business excellence “plants” with you they add no value and they’re costing u a lot. I suppose u had to give big titles to show Wall Street u mean business when it comes to maximizing gross profit and shareholder value? What a sad story.

@4rf what they need is to understand the basics - find me one business person who actually knows data - I'll wait. He-l, there are like 5 people in the whole company who do and they are marginalized like lepers. In truth you do need process knowledge - but they're so far gone they'll be building process on ignorance of reality, so this will fail. guaranteed.

Shall we discuss the grand opening of the business excellence center in Franklin lakes? A big fancy room with white boards and fancy speakers that can only be used for kaizens in other words never since Franklin lakes is not where GEMBA is lol so it will be an Empty large room like all the other empty large rooms in headquarters. The money we don’t have was spent on flyers fancy polos for the business excellence 🤡 to wear and some other “gifts” were handed out. The plants are struggling to stay afloat but we have money to throw at this pathetic of a phony attempt at increasing gross profit through process excellence. I got news
For you NO ONE FOLLOWS THE PROCESSSES.. everyone wants to circumvent them and even if means quality will suffer yes I said .. so stop wasting time on processes cause no one wants to abide by them .. every chance they get is how do we deviate from the process I don’t have time for the process ..

@1vd The smart ones stick around for only a couple years to get a “Senior” title on their resume and then move on. The ones who just want a job and really don’t care about building skills stay with BD and have a career writing emails and sitting in meetings.

@sz yes ITLP’s or now known as Edge fill the open positions and are on the express train for promotions and movement within the organization. They have to promote them every year or 2 or else the program is a failure they have to show that people move up when in this program or else no one will want to join bd from colleges .. I’ve seen interns come to bd on there internships and flat out expressed they had no interest in joining and ran to big pharma who gave them offers..

Tom and BD leadership have one response, throw money at it. Is it still failing? Throw more money at it, and replace these people with those people. If that does not work hire people from another company like HCL and see if they can straighten it out. When in doubt acquire this and sell that.

Kaizen and whatever bs terminologies they want to use for this fiscal year or next year will not solve the root cause - when your CEO's only strategy is this and to outsource roles to Genpact/HCL, etc. Amazingly though - BD is probably one of the very few companies whose board allows the CEO to stay on as long as TP has - when his report card is a F year after year after year. Pretty much since he took the role - and the reason we had a good 2020/2021 was just by luck w the pandemic - a 20 year old could have netted us those profits back then as we were literally printing cash at the time. We are on such a downward spiral - the hundreds of "BD Excellence" leaders and employees will not make any difference - other than pulling more $ out of our SG&A w/o just cause.

@ah I know this too well - watched them ki-l off good people in favor of ITLP kids with zero experience, hire or assign all of the wrong people to roles that they couldn't possibly handle, ignore advice of seasoned individuals and marginalize anyone who actually did any work that mattered. its all catching up with them now - just glad to not have to deal with it any longer. Exit is the only sane thing to do.

@a2 not a single business excellence leader knows a damn thing about how any process works at bd I mean NOTHING.. they don’t live and breathe the processes yet they act like they know everything and want to help

Amen! "Business Excellence" is non existent - not one of the "leaders" of that organization have a clue - they have run out anyone that knew how anything worked and do nothing but spew buzzwords and hire consultants to analyze why nothing works. Its a joke - but it isn't funny
