Thread regarding Toronto-Dominion Bank layoffs

Wave of Resignations

Watch for the wave of resignations. 4 days a week in the office is ridiculous when people were hired at the promise of 2 days a week. Already heard of of 5 since early August

This is the tried and true cowards way out for CEOs who don’t want to pay severance and to thin the herd. Takes zero talent to make that call and it’s a huge fallacy that it provides for more collaboration and productivity. . Don’t fall for that psycho babble. It backfires horribly as top talent leaves because they can. I’ve worked at two companies that pulled this RTO routine and it took a bit for the ding dongs at the top to notice they didn’t have SMEs that knew what they were doing. Answer.. hire more H1Bs which is a joke as well. TD is on a lifeline while other banks acquire smaller regionals it’s sidelined because of deaf, d-mb and blind management who worship at the bonus and bean counter alter.

@34v Did Vlad provide any updates on RTO at the town hall? It's not far off, yet the leadership is strangely silent on the topic.

@2ek I keep hoping Vlad will do something that shows that he is a good leader but so far nothing. I can't believe it has come to this but I miss Greg. Greg seemed warm and human no matter what your job level. Vlad comes off as abrupt and cold and has no time for lower level staff.

Vlad and his crew are the slimmest bunch of losers I have ever, in 45 years, had the misfortune to work for.

@1jk They need to be prepped with speaking notes because they have no clue what it is the area they lead actually does.

The VP+ pay lip corporate lip services to the slaves but the expense / belt tightening rules don't apply to them. We are expected to be working 6 to 7 days to ensure that we get our work done and also work of the colleagues that have been restructured out. We get treated to a pizza lunch or the dreaded office pot luck. It's a joke, once the tides turn and its an employees market, people will be running for the door.

OMG why these VPs and above thinks they are privileged
Every meeting they expect to be prepped up with a speaking notes? Isn’t it their job and getting paid for it
Too much corporate card swiping, partying on company’s expense
Surprised to see newly joined ones are quickly becoming like

C suite will be ecstatic with this news. This is the kind of news that they want to to hear. For everyone leaving , they feel that in this market there will be 10 people behind you willing to do your job for less money for five days at their desks. I had a call about a position at TD for a role I applied for, and was not surprised to find that the hiring manager was overwhelmed and trying to keep himself together. The original role I applied for was to support one segment of business but they were anticipating people leaving so they wanted the hire to support 5 segments at the bank. It was a big no for me. There has to be some changes at the top. That bank needs a leader that will march to his own beat, develop a great culture, encouragement development of new processes. I guess we need Ed Clark to come back. Barrat and then this new "guy" is not doing anything earth shattering at the bank. Maybe with fintech and new opportunities of financial services in the pipeline the banks are going to try to stay relevant. It's not going to work with their current marching orders. RTO is so archaic, I have no words. Just glad that I am not working there
