Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

Permanent layoffs

Is truly being terminated. They say that you are being laid off using a talent based system, which is total c-ap. It was pick and choose I see this in my own department, which is honestly unethical to let favorites stay even though they were never classified for the position they will be taking. Morgan and Morgan had alot to say

Post ID: @8vvh+15EwCKCM BRAVO BRAVO BRAVO!!! Let's add working without lunch, drop the kids off at grandma because they need a closer and Sally Sue refuses to come in because fireworks are in her town. Better days will come. Might not seem like it now, but it will get better and easier as the time past. Be well!

This was not based on skill assessment. Who the hell knows how they choose us. 3-30 Years seems to be a amount of years we sweat in this company, and I mean sweat. We worked through 9/11, numerous hurricanes, blizzards and blackouts, we even worked in the dark when there was a blackout with flashlights, if you signed in you got paid. They didn’t’ appreciate us, they took away our cash rewards for opening credits and they started cutting out the employee discounts they made you work overnight inventory or else.. you could only take vacations certain times of the year..less and less they wanted more and more. I really enjoyed the people I worked with. We were like a family..to my x boss and all those in the ivory towers Karma is a B–ch.. Good luck to us all Of us and try to enjoy God Bless

There has been experience where employees with the top reviews with stats /work was eliminated and the worst reviews kept. Why? The teachers pet. How did it work out for the teacher, NOT GOOD AT ALL.

Straight question to managemt , If it is based on skill set 1) some of the managers depromted to individual contributors. They were not in technical positions for past few years. 2) there are more people retained in Home Depot migrated teams compare to legacy Macy’s tech people ? 3) any visa based ? 4) why can’t Kpmg do the interview and select the based on skill set ?

Was there a skill assessment ? Yes. But if you really believe that was the only deciding factor in who stays and who goes you are being naive. Someone with integrity would go based on the skill assessments but most SM’s just want surround themselves with people who won’t challenge them to be better and only want to make their jobs easier. Is it fair? No. But the the company can no longer afford talent with experience and high pay rates. They will settle for younger workers who will work longer for less and do whatever they are told. This is not just the case for Macy’s but is the way of the world. Self reflection is good but saying that right now is insensitive and cruel. You clearly just don’t get it.

@1zzu+15EwCKCM Same here, the majority of my team was Indian and from when I was furloughed, they were the only ones remaining if they had a h1b.

There is no reason to self reflect when you work for umpteen years and then terminated. If the service was that bad they would have chosen the alternative. How heartless you know the ones who should be doing the self reflecting.
Some of these store managers are unethical and used their own biases when choosing those who returned to work and were let go. They are part of the problems gor the company. Instead of choosing hard quality people they base it on friendships and those who can bring the latest gossip.
So there. self reflect!

To the person telling people who just lost their job to “self reflect”: You sound condescending and maybe have sympathy for people who just went through a major life change. They will have plenty of time to reflect without some entitled id–t telling them to “self reflect.”

The only members left on my team are Indians (probably h1bs). This is at the technology office in John's Creek. They fired the three Americans. My ex-boss is an Indian. This company is a lost cause. Im already interviewing next week and would goto the media, but I don't want to risk it.

It is not based on talent. I am the top performer in the team. It is based on Macy's Employees vs former Home Depot cheap politicians. I can perform better than 80 % percent of retained employees.

Why would management want to keep someone around who causes trouble? (Or in your words, "make waves"?)

Troublemakers create toxic work environments.

If you make waves with management but treat customers well they still won’t keep you! All politics!

You think 99% of the CEOs of corporations have ethics? They are mostly psychopaths, and we have collectively tolerated it too long.

It was based on a skill assessment. If you were not chosen perhaps you need to self-reflect.
