Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Ford Single Handedly Destroyed the EV Market

Everyone thought EV’s were cool because of Tesla. Then, Ford came in and made a joke of the EV industry. The Mach E (mockery) and the Lightening. Just trash. Low quality, too expensive. A joke. Everyone hates EVs now and Ford. BF and JF gotta go. This is insanity.

Buh-bye EVs.

Bold statement lightning = trash. Have you driven one? I have put 12K on my lightning flash and love the driving experience. Also, i have had 0 TGW. I got the bigger battery and averaged about 270 miles or so in the summer. Winter is TBD, but it is obviously less so far. But still, I have not had to recharge during the day yet.

You can comment about the price, but it is a wonderful ride.

Frankly, the only reason Tesla survived was because of the government subsidies - aka handouts - that were offered with each purchase. Now that most of those subsidies have been turned off, Tesla sales volume has been impacted. They are working to bring down their MSRPs but I am curious to if that impacts their already struggling fit and finish and overall quality.

I am curious to see how things go for Tesla moving forward. The people that used to buy Teslas were mostly virtue signaling liberals with money to spare. Now that Musk has been more vocal about his personal opinions, those liberals are turning away from him. Conservatives are beginning to love him now. But they tend to be less interested in EVs. So it'll be interesting.

As a technology, I’ve always liked the idea of EVs. They’ve been around almost as long as ICE and ECE (steam) vehicles have. It’s the battery weight, cost and charge time that is the problem. There are a few circumstances where EVs work well. Hybrids without batteries, like diesel-electric locomotives. Forklifts. Certain delivery vehicles. Golf carts. Bicycles. Stuff like that.
If all you had to do was drive back and forth to work, charging your car overnight might be ok. But when it comes time to replace the battery, the cost is prohibitive. So the resale value of EVs sück. They’re just not a good deal unless their costs vs. what they can deliver improves.

Big 3 are like Fredo Corleone, in the Godfather. "I can handle things... I'm smart! Not like everybody says! Like, d-mb! I'm smart... and I want respect!"

The Big 3 are dead or bankrupt in China. They can't compete with the Chinese car companies. 12 years ago Gord and GM were doing good in China. Now their vehicles are all outdated, no one wants to buy outdated and poor quality vehicles. They are loosing $ billions each year. Cut your loss. Get out now.

When it was just Tesla, EVs were a novelty, like new tech stuff is supposed to be. Let the market decided, not clueless mandates.

Well, GM, Ford, and Stellentis went all in on this gamble, some more than others. Many of us knew it was better to walk into a casino and toss it all on red or black.
