For whatever reason a arge percentage of minorities have not been vaccinated. They are also a large part of the labor force. I can’t see Ford alienating them

Ford is a business and employee healthcare is a huge expense. The vaccine lessens the risk of severe illness. Wouldn't Ford save money with a vaccine mandate? It's legal. Sure, some people will threaten to quit and a few might even follow through. So what? Nobody is irreplaceable.
@2mlx the difference is, those vaccines you reference are all FDA approved. No way am I sticking something in my arm that is not FDA approved
Elementary schools have immunization requirements. Universities require meningitis vaccination to live in the dorms. In some states, hospital workers must get flu shots. Sometimes overseas travel requires vaccinations. Vaccination rules are nothing new.
If Ford joins other employers in requiring vaccinations and you don't agree, you don't have to work there.

Because I am choosing when it is more convenient for me to leave. Ford and I don't have a love affair (like you do), we have a business relationship. I get paid for doing the work that Ford thinks it needs. As in every business, people stay while it is convenient for them. Besides, by waiting I will get some extra benefits.

I tend to align more with the democrats (before they went communists), but that doesn't blind me of the fact that Whitmer didn't preach by example, and that she didn't handle the crisis well. I didn't vote for Trump neither, but that doesn't blind me of the fact that Trump was right in several topics (even when I didn't agree with the solutions).
Both, democrats and republicans, have failed our country. They are so focused on their own petty battles, that they are missing all the damage caused by their own hands. I fear for this country, we are so immersed in fighting each other.
You are also part of the problem. Instead of listening to what I have to say, you felt attacked by my opinion of Whitmer's poor performance, and tried to insult me. Such a great example of how we lost the way in this country. Let me tell you something, nobody holds the "ABSOLUTE" truth. Diversity is not about skin color or gender only. You can't make this stuff up! Second time in less than 100 years that Ford is aligning itself with an evil, fascist government to force medical experiments/dr-gs on its own citizenry. Also, 2nd time in less than 100 years that a group of brainwashed citizens turned their heads the other way supporting Ford and fascists while they did evil things to their own citizens. Just like the people trying to force vaccines on people today/silencing/shaming them, etc., it was no different in the 1930's/early 1940's for Ford in Europe.

People of Ford --- it is NOT too hard to understand the message: Ford doesn't want you if you belong to one of the following categories: (1) conservative, (2) white male, (3) older than 45, (4) good, dedicated worker. And if you think this subject of vaccinations is not about politics or being anti-conservative, well then just wow! And you really can't have dialogue or argue with people who actually think it is about public health, facts, science, or data. They are just brainwashed name callers. You are just a deplorable to them! And they actually think they are the elites in society.
Again, it is not that hard to understand. If you think Ford is going to put the policy in writing, they are not, nor will they ever. But the writing is on the wall and has been for a long, long time. If you want to live in some fantasy world - be my guest. It don't matter to me. You can keep hoping for the next 5, 10, 20, or even 30 years that Ford is going to care about you. You don't have a career at Ford anyway - it is just a job! (usually good paying though)

Bring it on! I am SO ready to walk out from Ford. To be exact, as soon as WFH is over, I am out of the door to greener pastures. I already sold my house in MI and moved to another state.

She had her hair done, flew to visit her father, had dinner with 12 persons, and who knows what else, all while we were locked down in our homes and nobody was allowed to leave the state, under her same measures that the MI Supreme Court ruled against it and that caused a lot of hurt on the small companies, and still the Governor has an approval rating of 50% in the latest poll. Really? Are my fellow michiganders THAT stupid?
And I am certain not interested in coming back to an office under our backstabbing, incompetent, arrogant "self called people leaders", that are not more that a bunch of insecure baboons (my apologies to the baboons) repeating the "wisdoms" and latest buzzwords from upper management. Where hard work and knowledge is no longer important, but it is to be part of a minority, to be "diverse" (whatever that means to the woke).

Before all this PC cr-p, all this "wokeism", when someone from a minority group had a good position, EVERYBODY knew that person was really good at it and had EARNED the position. Now, most people assume we got the position because it was HANDED DOWN to us based on skin color or gender.
I refuse to be just a number, an statistic to make Ford look good on paper. I refuse to see good knowledgeable people, no matter their skin color, laid off because they are reaching a pension milestone, or because their salaries are too high, or because they are not of the "right" diversity.
I was SO ready to leave the company when Covid-19 hit us and we started WFH. Since then, things are more bearable, because I can mute myself while I curse, because I can avoid the most toxic people, because I can skip certain meetings more easily, because I don't have to commute to the office.
I was born, raised, educated and worked my way up BEFORE coming to Ford. I was not made by Ford (Thank God!) and Ford don't have any hold on me. I am SURE 100% I will
make it outside of Ford. Anyway, sorry for this long tirade.

Why should you care if they are getting legal counsel? Last I checked, we live in a land of freedom and personal choice should be respected. Seems to me there are a lot of people out there who haven’t learned to mind their own business.
@ofq The only personal choice you make is to get the vaccine or look for another job. Many companies are adopting this policy so that you may not have a choice.
News Flash! Vaccinated people can transmit Covid-19 as much as unvaccinated ones. Then, it does not matter if the Ford employee seating next to you is vaccinated or not. You are still facing the same risk!
The difference, as the scientists have been saying for a long time, is that vaccinated people have lesser chances of ending in a hospital or graveyard. Getting vaccinated does not guarantee surviving the disease, just improves the chances. The fact that someone gets vaccinated or not will not affect ANYBODY ELSE. Therefore, it is still a personal choice, and whatever it is, it should be RESPECTED by EVERYBODY ELSE.
For the comments that people very sick is getting the vaccines, the vaccines don't work when you are sick, and the vaccines are NOT needed after the patient has recovered. The immune system already learned (the hard way) how to fight the virus.

It’s not fear mongering, it’s fact. Of course some on this thread seem to be opposed to facts. I can list them if you’d like… my cousin, hospitalized. My best friend’s brother, dead and his wife hospitalized. My son’s best friend, still not well. Mother of son’s friend, dead at 56. My significant other’s two coworkers, hospitalized. Three friends that I have known for years became very sick along with their families. My vaccinated lawyer, sick but not gravely. This thing spreads like crazy. If you’re lucky enough to know of no one who has been sick you either don’t have many friends or family, have been very lucky or people you know have been extremely careful. I know many people who didn’t initially take this seriously. They do now. Not liking a fact doesn’t make it fiction.
God forbid somebody runs with a pair of scissors around @xue. He probably lets someone else make all the work related risky decisions too
@cnd , if the people around them have been vaccinated , according to their idol in DC they have nothing to worry about. Judging from the up/down ratio here , that’s about half the employees.
