@2bej kissing AI. They would've saved so much more money if they erase DEI department and replace CEO with artificial intelligence. All done

Does anyone know how many people were laid off during this round?

@yyj You’re exactly right. Stock was at $2.42 when I looked this morning. It’s not good. Do they have the skill set and ability to turn things around?

If you’re one of the lucky ones that has not yet been laid off, now is the time to jump ship. It’s always easier to get a job when you have one. Sad to say, but I’ve been an employee for many years and I’ve come to this conclusion.

@yvq the company hasn’t given any kind of bonus in two years which is really disappointing. Things have been in decline for quite some time.

@yvp could be a diligent remote employee but it doesn’t matter. You’re just a name and a number to them, they offered a surprisingly good severance but as you said did not offer a Christmas bonus which I also found strange

@OP

A very close friend has worked for DSW for six years remotely out of his house

Lawn mowing vehicle preservation, playing with his pets, chatting with friends. Everything is a priority over his job. He was let go on June 9 and was in a state of shock as to why.

Purportedly DSW is giving him over $20,000 in severance pay but did not give out a Christmas bonus

In this economy and times not being a diligent employee while working at home can really wreak havoc on the prospects of you maintaining a livelihood

@yvg That’s a good point. I don’t think leadership has any clue how to turn around the ship and with current challenges with the macro environment, could be more cuts or bankruptcy on the horizon like the poster below said. Really sad.

@yva think they were fine with it at first but with how the company is doing, they need to cut cost somewhere and remote work will always be the first to go.

@yv6 agreed but even if youre working there (was just laid off), i wouldnt be surprised if there are more layoffs coming and eventual bankruptcy so I would look for something asap.

@yv5 What I don’t understand is why hire all the remote workers and continue to reinforce support of the program if the company doesn’t like it? It’s just diabolical not to mention wasting so much money.

If you are currently employed by DSW, are working from home and have not yet been let go, I highly recommend that you consider going back to work in the office. This will greatly lessen the likelihood of your future loss of employment.

Everyone should take a look at the January 17 posting. It sounds like this person was right on target.

And it stands to reason that a large percentage if not all layoffs are work from home as those are usually the least productive employees. And with today’s technology, it is not hard to monitor remote employee productivity.

@yhv Also so sorry to hear they did this after her maternity leave. I also know someone who was on short term disability and was laid off Monday. Didn’t know companies could do that.

@yq6 I’m remote as well. I believe most were remote but I do know a couple that were local Columbus.

My wife was also laid off yesterday morning apparently there was a widespread cut handed down from HR. She was also a remote employee and was the only one on her team let go..she had the least tenure but was very hard working

@yhv I was laid off from corporate side yesterday morning and they just announced ‘cost cutting’ in the earnings call. Does anyone have an idea of how many were targeted this round? I believe it’s widespread.

Layoffs have started at DBI. My wife received a call from her VP today. She was a remote hire and had just returned from maternity leave a few weeks ago.

Poor performance? Or favoritism? Theres a difference

by

Post ID: @c5c+1vmp3Zhj

Based on the poor performance especially when compared to similar companies and their performance, DBI will likely have to take aggressive measures. This will very likely include staff reductions/consolidations in their corporate offices and perhaps some store closures. Elimination of work from home positions will likely be greatly affected due to their lack of productivity.
