Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

Dell is the same as every other large corporation

When you say you are dissatisfied with how Dell treats employees you need to understand it is all large corporations. The economy is in a downswing and IT spending from Covid is in the past. That means in order to show investors they are profitable they are going to cut people. This is because they are incentivized to show quarterly performance, not long term health for the company and definitely not taking care of the people. Go to HPE, Amazon, VMWare, or any other large corporation and it will be the same. If you want a more family driven atmosphere go to a smaller company that isn't publicly traded.

@1igy+1mLTFw5o makes a great point.

I’ve worked at government agencies and private industry in the computer field for 45 years. The private industry companies have been as small as 50 and as large as 170,000 employees. The differences between these companies have been the faces of the employees, the problems have remained. M as bye the biggest problems are yours and not every one else’s.

@OP+1n7ovgU. you make assertions, have you worked at other "large" companies to draw experiential comparisons?

@dph+1n7ovgUs The op's point isn't that Dell is on par or the same tier as other companies. Their point is that Dell is publicly traded, just like the other mentioned companies and that means, at the end of the day, that they all bend to their shareholders. No need to be rude.

You've said it many times, we get it. No need to reiterate.

You may be right about Dell not being the best of big corporate employers, but Amazon sure as heck ain’t either - it’s a completely toxic meat grinder. And a lot of the big tech companies are going to be tighter on money, so I imagine a lot of the niceties are going to be slowly taken away.

I will say it again:
dell is a tier 4-5 company.
all hotels are same in the sense they rent rooms and have costs.
but the quality of the experience is no where the same between 1 star and 5 star

sorry...I don't get it...it's not real estate. If they're shareholder responsible, they're going to work the same. Those companies you mentioned also had layoffs.

This nonsense again.
Dell is a tier 4 or 5 company.
It is not the same as a high tiered company.

Think of it like real estate. Dell is Compton. Google/Netflix/etc is Malibu. They both contain houses. But they are in no way the same. Get it now?
